With all rankings there is usually some level of subjectivity, and never a perfect scenario, but here are some observations and thoughts...

No mention of Assaf @ 106, or Lantow @ 120 from Defiance.
Davis is absent @ 145 and won Allen County.
Austin Martin missing @ 152 and Avery Martin @ 106 from DSJ.
Fairly certain that Bowers won by decision over Heitkamp in their dual, but Bowers ranked below Heitkamp.
Schmidt is at 160, not 170, just bumped down this weekend.
Hefner won by decision over Buettner at Allen County, but ranked below Buettner.
Rabley has a fall over Dulebohn in their head-to-head, but isn't ranked.
Rudasill was a 2-1 winner over Newman in their dual, but not ranked.
Landon Hall not ranked anywhere despite wrestling up one, and at times two weights. The kid can bring it for a freshman.
Smith @ 195, no mention? I realize he has been banged up. But was a solid second at Allen County.
Carpenter ranked below Lhamon despite his 13-7 decision earlier in the season.
Duncan (Wapak) not mentioned despite a pin over Neal from their dual.

Wapak is usually Dulebon at 160, Newman at 170, and Hall at 182. The line up got bumped up at the Defiance/Shawnee tri and again at the Bath/Elida tri due to numerous injuries Wapak has been plagued with the season.

1st thanks to the both of you for your imput.

reversehalf - when and where did this happen? Was it after Dec. 30th? Need to look up results for next rankings.

init4life - I will try to address your thoughts. 1st - we understand what you are saying, but cannot rank wrestlers that are not in the line-up / out due to injury - therefore, could not rank Davis (Bath) / Smith (Elida). Also hard to rank someone who bounces between several wt. classes (ie.) Hall - if he settles into 1 wt. class and defeats some common opponets he will be ranked. Assaf (Def) / Cunningham (Bath) have not met yet - neither placed at the GMVWCA - will be decided on Thurs., (I think). Lantow did defeat Stahler at the GMVWCA (should be changed). DSJ was represented at the ratings meeting - neither Martins ranked. Not sure about Bowers - Heitkamp -stll looking for info. Rankings were completed 12-30 before Schmidt dropped. Buettner won MVW at Marion Harding - defeated Ray (HamiltonTwp.) who def. Hefner in the semi's. Newman advanced further than Rabley at GMVWCA. Rudasill / Newman - both won a match / 2 at GMVWCA - ranked that way by coaches concensus, I believe. Carpenter def. Lahmon and won several matches at GMVWCA - should be ranked above Lhamon. Neal placed at the GMWCA, Duncan did not. We try to do the best we can with what info. provided / what we can research. Usually only 4 - 6 coaches in attendance - none from the WBL / no info provided by them! I try to keep up on the WBL (I am sorta the non-representative of the WBL), but I do not always the time to research / look up info. Any help / imput is appreciated, but many coaches do not send us info. The rankings will all shake out the further we get into the season and should be pretty accurate by league and sectional tourney time.

Mackreeks it did happen before that 12-30-13. It happened on 12-19-13. I try to follow the WBL as close as I can following trackwrestling and baumspage.

Trackwrestling for these results
Notable from 12-19-13 tri

Number 1 285 Wade lost twice once to Donald Hughes (Shawnee) 8-5 and getting majored by Seibert 13-0. Using track I also see Hughes has a win over Duncan (Wapak) You throw Neal (Bath) and Gibson (OG) and 285 is wide open at league.

Garwood over Kulhman 4-2. 152 Bowers 12-8 over Heidtkamp and 4-2 Garwood. 195 Osborne 10-5 over #2 Knous (SM)

Thanks - hadn't heard of Trackwrestling before, and I've been around for along time (let's just say more than 35 yrs.). So I will check it out.

Trackwrestling.com will definitely assist nicely in your rankings... Maybe you could notify a couple WBL coaches to use it or even allow you to input the results. Very neat website!

I understand you are doing your best...

Rabely is not going to have a chance anytime soon to wrestle anyone else in the rankings but he did pin #5 but I do understand the Wapak thing.
Rudasill beat Newman even if it was close... He will wrestle your #2 soon (Celina) then maybe .
Hall from Wapak deserves a nod ... And don't sleep on Mikesell from Bath as he won quite a few matches at the holiday!
Duncan is a very strong wrestler at Heavyweight, yet slightly under weight.
Noah Beach is ranked but is pretty low at #3

Hopefully you will be present Thursday night!

Hall should be at 182 for the rest of the year with the return of Colton Brown at 195. He did beat Osborne from Defiance 16-1.

Mackreeks......thanks for the input and all you do for Allen County wrestling. To be honest I was uncertain who and how these rankings were established. Still feel that head-to-head matches are a more accurate gauge of rankings, versus trying to base it on common opponents, or who went deeper in a major tourney. We are all to familiar with how quickly wrestlers can be leading a match, get stuck and lose by a fall. That was the case with Hefner and Clayton Ray, Hefner got stuck, Ray picks up the win, then goes on to lose to Buettner. Hefner was convincing in his head-to-head 9-3 victory at Allen County.

init4life - we try to go by head to head competition (sometimes we miss a few results), but when teams go to different holiday tournaments - we try to gauge the strength of the tourney and placement at those tourneys. Rankings will switch over after leagues to sectional, dist, and state placers in their respective divisions. Bass - I will try to be there Thurs. - at Shawnee, correct?

Colton Brown is tough at 195, will wind up at/near the top. Smith from Elida, also 195, is now healthy with pins over LCC's Huffman, OG's Ebbeskotte this week and Gabe Hill from VW bumped a weight class up and avoided him all together at Bath... Should both be near top of 195ers by end of year, in no particular order...

Jordan Kaeck is rated to high at 132. He should be ranked lower. I would take all others listed over him just because he has showed poor leadership for his teammates as a senior. He has showed up at 3 or 4 tournaments for weigh in's and not made weight (great leadership). I would think after a couple times he would just go up to the next weight. Giving up 6 points every match in his absence hurt his teammates and you would think a senior would be more disciplined.

Wapak redskin fan - no offense, but do you really want to go there. Do you really expect people to be rated based upon their character - if that were the case, I'm sure many would not be rated, and who are you / we to judge a wrestlers character as opposed to their wrestling ability.. In my more than 40 yrs. in this sport - I've known quite a few wrestlers, who lacked class and character, but were great wrestlers. I've also known a number of wrestlers with great character and leadership qualities who didn't make the rankings. And what's to say your judgement is fair / accurate. I'm sure you've heard that saying - judge not, lest you be judged.
