This has the makings of a good one. The home team has won this game the last four years.

McComb beat Calvert in week one 39-7. McComb has a 6-4 QB, and according to the Courier they have an O-line that avgs 5-11 241 pounds. The preview also lists their starting WRs and RBs as seniors. Everyone is talking about graduation hitting McComb hard, but they always seem to reload. Alge finds a way to win.

Liberty-Benton beat a good Wynford team week one 17-3. LB's line play was excellent; those kids were nice size and atheletic. LB also sports a big QB at around 6-5. The defense was very impressive, but timing seem to be an issue on the offense side.

What's your thoughts on this week two clash?

We will see how much better LB is than the rest, Look for McComb, Leipsic, Arlington, VB, and P-G to battle for second spot in the league. LB has too many weapons, size does matter.

I watched PG in week one, they may surprise a team or two. 6 wins is possible for them.

How does 6 wins put them in a fight for second?

Second place will probablybe a 8-2 or 9-1 team, not a 6-4 team

I didn't say they would be fighting for 2nd place, Just that they may win 6 games. That was "hunt4em" throwing them into the 2nd place mix.

Gotcha, not sure why I initially took that post as agreement with Hunt4em's post. My bad.

And yeah Tiger, Rocketcorner seems to be dying down as the years go on. I remember the good ol' days where there would be 5 pages on this already and most of it would be Flounder and Bluejay just talking crap lol. Believe it or not, I miss those days.

Going with LB in this one because it is early and Mccomb has a higher amount if two way players this year especially upfront

True, but what concerns me most, is, we lost our kicker from last year, by way of transfer, and field postion means alot.... The other side of the coin, I like being the underdog much like last year in the playoffs.... Darn near went all the way, but that was last year and this is this year...

Yeah, know what you mean. Linhart was a HUGE weapon for LB from a kicking stand point last year....especially in the playoffs and he is gone. And......LB was considered underdog in all their playoff games and made it to the state semi's. I know where your coming from..............

Looking forward to the game, didn't hit any last week b/c of work but giving the Eagles the nod based on the defense. Sounds like they did a good job against Wynford, returning a lot from a state semi defense. Gotta give winner edge in BVC race.

McComb's kicking game is awful. I wouldn't be surprised if they line up for two the rest of the year. All they do is squib on kickoffs too.

I didn't think LB looked that good against Wynford. Wynford fumbled a couple of punts that really killed them and they turned it over on downs early in the 4th from about their own 35. LB tried to go down the field a lot early and couldn't connect. I do like LB's speed - especially #3. If LB's RB can run over McComb like he did Wynford at the end of the game, LB should be okay. If the big boys from McComb can slow him down, it could get interesting.

I can't disagree with you RD. While Craft's passing and Combs rushing accounted for over 300 yards offense (and Bell and Snook added more on the ground), LB was scary on offense. There appeared to be some early season timing issues with the sophomore QB and the offense. Hopefully that will come in time. LB must have put the ball on the ground 5 times and they threw a pick, .... or the score could have been 35-3. But the defense held a good Wynford team to 4 first downs and held them to only 114 yards of offense. I think LB's D will be the difference in the game. While I think it could be even closer, I am going with LB by 10pts.

It's difficult to guage these early season showdowns. How good was Calvert and Wynford? Who knows? In a few weeks, things will shake out.
Both teams have great traditions, but for many of the kids on the field tonight, this will be their first "showdown" type game. Who steps up? Who will be able to move the ball most consistently, running and passing, who becomes one dimentional? How does the kicking game and field position affect this game? Does depth and conditioning have a factor tonight, we'll find out in about 5 hours.

Very interested to see how this one goes. Two of the top teams in the BVC for the last handful of years, and it's usually a slugfest. Have to think LB takes it, but I don't see a blowout by any means.
