Pettisville is ranked that high because of a reporter from the Defiance Crescent News ranks those teams in the nw part of the state. He's the reason some undeserving teams up that way will get lone first place votes and you'll be scratching your head why.

I agree Hicksville is overrated, but Pettisville is actually pretty good. They gave Wauseon a tough game last Saturday, and the have some talented players. Not sure they can compete with Crestiview, but they are not that bad. Your assessment about the Crescent News is correct.

Pettisville may be “pretty good”, but be careful about your definition of pretty good. The BBC is some pretty (very) bad basketball. I remember a couple of years ago going to the Stroh Center for Regionals in D4 and watching Lincolnview play this team from Fayette that was supposed to be so tough. They were awful!!! Had a great record like 23-1 or something and they looked like a JV team. BBC. Enough said

Jabber,
This is also the reason that you see teams like Bristol and Shadyside ranked year after year. This is almost as crazy as allowing me to judge a “best tasting fish dish” contest. I HATE fish!

That isn't true actually. That's not who gave Pettisville first-place voting this season. I'm not sure who did but it wasn't the Crescent.
