That would do nothing but justify the reasons that some felt they had in asking LCC to leave the league. A display of poor sportsmanship is just that, poor sportsmanship. I personally had hoped that LCC could have remained a part of the NWC but the decision has been made. LCC will remain successful wherever they end up wether in a new league or as an independent.

and they wont have any restrictions (all legal of course) on getting the people they need to be successful

This is the reason it was so stupid for the NWC to EVER take LCC in. They should have denied LCC entrance like the MAC did back then...and continues to do today.

It was entirely predictable that supporters from area conferences would use this as PR banter. It is not without notice that this side of one Ada poster, and LCC fan themselves...all support for LCC remaining in the conference came from outside the conference. The very same conferences that could take LCC as a free agent this moment...but refuse to do so.

I guess you could say kudos to the NWC for at least trying. But I still think it was the adults responsibility to protect their fighters. I'll always blame the NWC administrations who allowed this fiasco. Every other area conference, particularly the MAC, has protected their fighters from dealing with the area anomaly.

The bravado sounds nice and all...and I have no doubt DSJ's would like LCC in the mix. But it is obvious the rest of the conference wants nothing to do with the T-birds either. If they were truly "up for the challenge" they would take LCC in a heart beat.

I agree with you 100%! The problem was that somehow a second vote was taken, and that vote was in their favor. I think the Mac denied them because the lack of facilities at the time.(before they built their gym)

Can't wait to see some scores ol' coach Coop drops in the next 2 years on some of the not-so-competitive competition...

My understanding is that LCC would benefit from maintaining a scheduling arrangement with many NWC schools. Non-revenue sports can be much more challenging than football and basketball. I don't know if this will serve as a counterbalance. Judging by the dueling radio personalities, it is difficult to ascertain who has the power.
I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.

Bearcat........

That is not why the MAC denied them......the MAC is stable and set at this point, and has been for quite some time......for the purpose of travel alone, LCC would not be a good fit.....Loramie, Sydney Lehman, Anna are 3 schools that come to mind that have all shown interest in the MAC......LCC would fit better with the BVC or the NWC....but we all know it won't be the latter!!!!!

This discussion begs the question, if DSJ applied for entrance into the MAC today, would they be accepted?

Good question, considering the fact travel was supposedly the reason LCC was denied.

So are you saying Liberty Benton would be the Vanlue of the WBL? Just asking?

LJ

No I think they'd actually compete fairly well. Especially considering the program in the WBL that has been the most consistent in football over the last 10 years or so is always the smallest school(O-G). Just that adding a D5 team would do nothing for the league. If you beat them, oh well. Not many computer points. If you lose you just lost to a school that in most cases is half your size. Kind of the same reason I could never see them taking LCC.

Contrary to what many say, I feel that the majority of MAC people are happy that we are a member of the conference......I know many MAC fans from most of the communities, and very few are unhappy with DSJ as a member.....the only complaint that I usually hear is they don't like the drive!!!!!

The only real way I could see the MAC accepting LCC in as a member now is if they somehow lost a member and even that is a stretch. I think the MAC is pretty stable from a football schedule standpoint once they added Anna and worked out the current arrangement they have. Just from the looks of things, LCC fits best in the NWC, BVC, or NWOAL from a size stand point. From a travel standpoint (especially in the NWOAL) thats a different story. I dont ever see the BVC taking them in, even with their supposed talks of expansion, because most BVC people not from L-B already have issues with the Eagles, all you would be doing is adding another L-B into the fold and thus furthering the distance from the top teams and Vanlue and Hardin Northern.

As I stated earlier, I see LCC as an independent for quite some time to come.

Just an abstract thought...with the deal forged between LCC,DSJ,Elida and Lima Bath....could this be a prelude to the addition of having a north and south Mac arrangement? Just a thought!

The rumor is that the NWC voted to drop(kick out) LCC. I realize that the NWC is traditionally weaker, and most years cannot match up to LCC level of play. But doesn't kicking a good team out of your league usually hurt the level of competition of the league in the long run? Any idea where they will go? I have heard they applied to the WBL but they wouldnt take them. They are annually a good team. Why are they having so much trouble finding a league?
