I'll give him the playoff birth, but take that away and he's 0-8 career against playoff teams and has mediocre stats at best. Maybe he's just one hell of an opportunist. What are your thoughts?

The Bengals are a team on the rise. They have just enough holes to make them not an elite team, but they are moving the right direction. Let's face it, in the NFL, there are 3-4 good team, alot of mediocre teams, and a few bad ones. The Bengals are on the upper side of the mediocre teams. Dalton is a good QB, but all QB's need a good support system. The Bengals struggle running the ball consistently. A few years back with Ced Benson, they had a legit running threat, they've not had that sense. AJ Green's a top flight NFL receiver, but after that there aren't alot of weapons.

I said it last year when there was so much made about Dalton and his making the Pro Bowl (after about 4 other QBs dropped out). He is an average QB for the NFL and nothing more. Not great arm strength. Not great field awareness. No complimentary running game to help hide his weaknesses.

I don't think he is overated. but I don't think he has done anything to elevate his game. Great QB's have a chemistry with their receviers through extra work and film study so they know when they are going to break on a pattern so the ball can be in the air to throw throw them open. Manning for instance, Doesn't wait til receivers are open he throws the ball to where receivers are going to be. In college Dalton was throwing to receivers who could break away from most DB's and he could just throw it to them then. Now DB's are better covers and you sometimes need to have that back shoulder throw to get the first down. He just hasn't developed a number two guy to do that with.

Also the bengals running game is terrible, so play action is about useless. I don't think Flacko has developed into an elite QB either the ravens need the offense to make more plays, and he has only had good games against the bottom of the league teams. And the Ravens have ray rice....so you definitely have to respect the run game.
