I really haven't checked out the flyers at Stinkys yet but I do know that the annual
"Beaver Eatin' Party" will be held on Saturday March 1.........of course Stinkys
is located approximately 15 miles west of Findlay on US 224. This is one of the biggest
and best parties thrown annually around these parts......as in year's past "Stan the Man"
will be preparing the beaver.....the festivities start around 6pm with the smorgasboard
and then around 8pm DJ Gerty starts spinnin' the tunes......by 2am this sucka is a
full-blown partee!......Tshirts are on sale now at the bar and these are some real attention
getters........I am hoping to be able to bring Slicer and some of her friends over to Gilboa
to enjoy some good old-fashioned Putnam Co. hospitality......RM

I haven't been to the last few parties, but what I do remember from parties past, I'm pretty sure I had a really good time    Which led to :sleep1: :sleep1: :sleep1:

Hoping to make it this year & I encourage anyone out in RocketCornerland looking to have a great time to do the same. Get there early to make sure you get to try the beaver & then let Bob Doo & Rox take care of you for the rest of the night. Hope to see a lot of people there from the 'Corner

I still haven't taken the dive into this delicacy....
I love me a meat feast (fat, skin, flesh, bone = truly magical!) and therefore, being the huge meat lover that I am, I'm always open to trying anything once, but I am curious as to how you prep the beaver?
And from where do you roundup your beaver?

Where to start.....
Slicer,
the beaver is not trapped locally, however I have seen some in the river down by the Gilboa winery in the spring...

As far as preparing the beaver it is fairly simple...
Lay the beaver on a table or other hard surface and give it a good cajun "rub"....after testing to see if enough spices have been added, you then flip it over and repeat on the backside....
After about an hour or until the meat starts to warm, insert a meat probe and bake it at 350 for around 2 hours or until the beaver falls off the bone....(don't worry, you'll know when it's done)...
Lather on your choice of sauce, add a little cole slaw and vola'......

I think it was 'slicer' who told me that a well prepared beaver is very good eating, but it has a fishy smell to it.....she also noted that you must eat it very slowly to truly enjoy the flavor!!!!!!!

If anything ever smells fishy, don't ever put it in your mouth....but, I do believe in savoring each and every mouthful of what you do put in it!

Flound,
It's actually more like lobster........if you 've ever seen me sit down with a couple of tails you'd know that I'm "all in".... the meat is much better than most believe...sometimes you need to use your imagination....

Welp, that does it for me! I'm a HUGE seafood lover, especially lobster, so looks like imma have to load up my girls (apparently with blinders on, according to RM), head on over to Gilboa to get our beaver cherries popped!

Flound,
Sounds like a beaver smorgasbord!....depending on the number that Slicer has loaded up we might need some
help....kinda seems to me that there will be plenty to go around.....RM

Well, I've just got to tell you that this year's "Annual Beaver Tshirt" is one of the coolest they've ever had......
A bunch of us were in last night and everyone was asking for one.....I was able to pick up one of last
year's models for Slicer in the "hot orange" variety......

The beaver might be close to lobster but its one thing that smells a lot worse preparing it than it does when eating it.

The decorations are being hung for this year's annual Beaver Eatin' Party to be held at Stinkys Country
Well in Gilboa, Ohio this Saturday night March 1....

Stinkys is located approximately 15 miles west of Findlay, Ohio on US 224

The "eating" will begin around 6pm with most of the "good beaver" being eaten by 9pm or thereabouts...

DJ Gerdy will start spinning the tunes around 8pm or so.....(for those of you who remember the old concerts
at the Toledo Sports Arena back in the day, it could be a little later!)

Shirts are on sale NOW at the bar......Stinkys does not open until 4pm during the week mind you

If you would like to BYOB (bring your own beaver) that is socially accepted also....you will not be asked
to share, but don't mind if some of the patrons want to watch OK?

Big Stan Oren will again be supervising the preparation of this delicacy....if you know Stan, you realize that
he hasn't met a beaver (or for that matter any meat) that he doesn't like.....

See ya there!!
