I'm trying to get a feel on what teams in NW Ohio will advance out of districts and go on to the regionals....If memory serves me right OG advanced after beating LB in districts and then got beat in the semis at regionals. Will any area girls teams move on to state or will NW Ohio continue to be a few steps behind everyone else? Will it be Continental, ST.Marys or OG etc??????

Top D-2 Teams in NW Ohio to move on

GracelikeRain,
Last year OG got beat by Akron Hoban I believe in the regional semis...........Genoa thumped Continental in the other semi and Genoa then got waxed by Hoban in the finals............NW Ohio boys and girls soccer is more than just a few steps behind both the NE and the SW areas of the state............just the facts ma'am, just the facts............zooooom

Continental got beat by Bellville Clear Fork 1-0 in overtime. Hardly getting thumped. Akron Hoban beat OG 3-1, who then beat Bellville Clear Fork 5-0. I will agree, though, NW Ohio soccer is behind the rest of the state.

Just the facts, Rocketman? huh, sounds like you had your facts confused. But to the subject I think OG and Continental will be the class of Div II again this year. I heard that there may be a change in tournment locations that might have them meeting earlier then the Regional Finals. Bryan and Delphos St Johns could also surprise. About Northwest Oho soccer, I dont think were behind in our play of the game, just the size of our enrollment. When we get to the regionals we are playing teams with 3X the enrollment.

Rocket, I disagree with the Boys more than a few steps behind....While they have not broke through for a while they are losing in regionals by very close margins OG in a shootout last year to Kidron in the regional semis, Ottawa Hills lost in a shootout to Kidron in the regional finals, Shawnee lost by 1-0 to Bay in the regional semi's and Maumee lost 2-1 to Bay in the regional finals, Perrysburg lost 3-0 to Strongsville in regiona semi's, Tol St John lost 2-0 in the regional finals.
While NW Ohio may never get to annual state appearance level but I still think gap is getting ever narrower!

I did an in-depth analysis of the past 8 years results in the boys tournament and it's not been good for NW Ohio........
not one rep from the NW region has won it, and only Perrysburg and Toledo St. Francis in D1 have finished as runnersup......23 champs have been crowned in that time with 10 from the NE, 7 from the SW, and 6 from the Central.........the closest state champ in relation to your team is probably Thomas Worthington HS, about 2 hours away.........NW Ohio is light years away in terms of talent..........how many of your players play "club soccer?"..........you know what the % is in the best programs.........they don't play any other sport whereas your team has well over half of them playing something else and most of them would consider soccer to be their second or third sport behind basketball and then either baseball or track..........
the girls might even be further behind if that's possible.........it's just not emphasized in this area like in the other areas mentioned above...........you notice I didn't mention SE Ohio even though OG's head bball coach's hometown team has a title in there (Jamesown Greenview)..........zoooom

Soccer is all so new to the area for high school. i know hogg creek is getting pretty big for the girls and that even though indoor is a new idea for our area the kids are playing soccer more and more off season. i think it just takes time and that the kids in the area are really starting to see that they could go farther playing college soccer than they could basketball......i just hope the schools promote soccere and encourage it.

Liberty Benton Lady Eagles have run off 6 straight as of tonite and blew away a descent Riverdale squad by a score of 7-1 and it was 6-0 before the JV's hit the field.....I really think there are a few teams that could play along side some of the other teams throughout Ohio.....Just a little biaised!!!LOL I do know LB plays in a weak league but hey this is only there 4th year as a varsity sport and there wasn't alot of choices to go anywhere except maybe the WBL.....Hopefully this is the year the Eagles hammer on the Titans but its a little far off yet so we will just wait and see for now.....By the way LB's defense has only allowed 3 goals in 6 games and have scored offensively 45.....Not too shappy for a weak NW Ohio team!!!
