In a stunning move just weeks before the NFL Draft and just days into Ohio State's spring practice drills, Cleveland Browns' owner Randy Lerner relieved Romeo Crennel of his coaching duties Saturday, and is expected to name Jim Tressel his new coach during a Monday morning press conference in Berea.

Lerner met with Crennel in Cleveland on Saturday to announce his decision before flying to Atlanta to work out a deal with Tressel, who is in attendance watching the Ohio State basketball team play in the Final Four.

Tressel, a native of Mentor, Ohio, and a lifelong Browns fan, had a 62-14 record at Ohio State in his six years in Columbus, which included a national title in 2002.

Tressel was 4-2 in bowl games and 5-1 against arch-rival Michigan. Tressel's five wins against Michigan are second only in school history to Woody Hayes' 16 wins against the Wolverines...

I don't think Tressel would make a good coach in the NFL. He is a good fit in the college ranks. Honestly, few college coaches are able to make it in the NFL. There have been many high-profile failures lately.

Actually Joe Paterno would be a better fit. Remember Penn State vs Ohio State 2006? If there's any game that showed that Paterno is capable of "taking the Browns to the super bowl," that was it. I've never seen an old man run that fast.

Actually, on second thought, he didn't quite make it to the super bowl, but what an effort!
