I'm not sure if the official word is out yet, but they are talking 12 drivers. I don't think they changed it because of Tony Stewart, as much as I like to blame him for anything.
NASCAR is all about money, they hated it when Gordon and Junior were out last year and Stewart this year. If they aren't in the chase, their big fan base doesn't care about it as much.

I agree MCguy, I bet that had a big part of it. Last year, when Gordon <--thumbdown.gif and Dale Jr. <--thumbup1.gif missed the chase, I bet NASCAR lost a decent sized portion of their fan base. I for one am a fan of Dale Jr, when he didn't make the chase, I really didn't pay attention to NASCAR all the much. I may have watched a race here and there, but mostly I just got on NASCAR's website and kept up to date on the points for the other drivers. Overall, I think that 10 drivers is the better choice. It makes the drivers that deserve to be in the chase work for their spot in the chase. Although, two spots isn't that big of a deal, I think NASCAR should keep it the same. Thats my two cents! GO #8

the bad part of it to me is at the end of the nascar season is football season is starting so I am a huge football fan so I lose interest...

I think NASCAR needs to just stick with the 10-car "playoff" for at least another season or two. They are constantly changing rules, regulations, RESTRICTOR PLATES!!, they need to just let things ride out for a couple of years and see how everything works out. If Stewart complains about not making the chase, then maybe he should lose more weight and he'll go faster!! ha..I know it's not because of Stewart that NASCAR is thinking about 12 car playoff...but it's always fun to blame that whiner.

got that right! but as said before they lose money but why not let 25 football teams in the playoffs so their fans still come to games...or wait lets keep the BCS for the money!!!

Well Vickers is gone from Hendrick Motorsports haha. Thats about all I can think of off the top of my head. I know theres alot more teams shaking things up for next season. I just usually focus on Hendrick and Petty Enterprises though.

I think some of the sponsors put a lil pressure on Nascar. IMO
The top ten(really top 2) was the only ones getting tv exposure.

Rudd will be in the RYR #88.

I don't know how many look at NASCAR.com, but they had the new points format.
Every win is five more points now during the season.
To set the order for the final ten races (with twelve drivers now), they all start at 5000 points, and they each get ten points for each win. So if you have the most wins with six, you start at 5060, a person with five wins would be at 5050, and etc.
I actually like this idea. It does put an emphasis on winning now.

yea but I think it takes more away from the guy who is more consistent like Kenseth a couple years ago didnt win many races but finished in the top 8 almost every race...

Yea FrOnT RoW JOE, the same thing happened with Dale Jr. last year, Im not sure, but I think he only won one race was it? But all of his top ten and top five finishs kept him in the chase. With the new points format pressuring the drivers for the wins, instead of just a top ten or five, I think drivers will be taking a little more risky passes and such to try and capture that important win, which might lead to more crashes and incidents. That is how I see it, anybody else feel that way?

23 Days Folks!
