I think a group of parents at ottoville did. They think their kids are the best and it was just the coach holding them back this whole time.
Numbers and talent may be up next year but the parents and administration are still going to be the same old Ottoville.
But the got rid of the coach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok so either you know for sure or you think. Both are completely different. And even if they did, who cares? Don't allow a few people who were either just messing with you or being a little optimistic speak for the entire community. And also they are no more wrong than you at this point. We don't know, you gotta allow fate to make the timeline not you.

Well my question is do you even know why certain people ar blaming who they are? Like i know it's easy for them people to blame others (usually the coach) when you are not winning, but I also think it's just as easy for us to criticize those same people. Especially when we don't fully understand. What I don't understand is why certain people are chiming in when they don't go to the practices, don't go to the games, dont have anyone they know or close to on the team. I think it speaks volume when the majority of the kids if not all feel the same way. I think it speaks volume when you are a hometown guy in a small town asked not to come back. in a small town, you as a coach gotta motivate kids to play. Ya you need to win and what not but you can also be a great motivator and also discipline enough to put out a winning program.

If TT had any probably with discipline, it was that he disciplined too much.

I remember when he started, half of the team quit because he wouldn't tolerate drinking and partying during the season like a lot of the other coaches at Ottoville do.

This reply says it all....any coach worth his weight will enforce these rules.....for some reason Ottoville people feel this does not apply to their athletes and that is the problem!!!!!

Well I hate to disappoint your theory but that's not entirely true. I sense a little hostility out of you flounder toward the Ottoville community. Why is that? Is it the Blue Jay pride in you? Or you just like stiring up the pot a bit? Sure there might be some parents that are soft and don't want coaches to discipline their kids but get your head out of Wannies and look around. It happens elsewhere maybe not as much, maybe even more.

Based on what exactly? just because stuff like that may not happen in other sports doesn't mean the other coaches are letting it slide. You sure kids didn't quit for other reasons? Because I know it's not because of the drinking and partying. Don't go throwing the other programs under the bus and making wild accusations like that.

Ottoville's baseball coach a couple of years back got fired because a player broke training rules and the coach turned his head. I'm not "throwing programs under the bus." Just sharing my thoughts on the situation. During TT's first few seasons in Ottoville, there were a good handful of players that quit because they didn't like training rules. Same kids still played soccer and baseball and track.

Ok but the coach got fired for turning his head right? So the school didn't tolerate it and the coach faced the consequences of it. Soccer has training rules too. Few kids have already been suspended in the past for breaking training rules but they didn't quit. So those same kids didn't get away with anything in other sports and if they did then the coach gets in trouble like mentioned. And a kid is not gonna quit a sport because of training rules. All kids playing sports are well aware that drinking during season is not tolerated so if that's the reason you heard, then it was an excuse to quit for other reasons because those same kids that you say played soccer would have training rules as well. I get that you are just giving your input on the whole situation, but with all due respect I think it's a little flawed.

Never is a big boy word, and I am a big boy so I stand by what I say. You won't win State ever for many reasons.

1) The way D4 hoops is with the private schools now

2) You couldn't do it with Richard L Kortokrax, Joe Horstman, Jeff McMillan or Tom Von Sossan. You think you've got someone better than any of those guys coming in to lead the program?

3) Many (not all) Ottoville kids are either so soft themselves or their mothers are still nursing them in high school, and they don't wanna commit to doing what it takes

I'll leave it at that

Well I'll maybe agree with #1. Although some of them private schools are starting to phase out in division 4 and go up a division. But the other 2 are just nonsense. Like I said before, anonymous people on rocket corner don't dictate timelines, fate does. Saying Ottoville or anyone for that matter will never win a state title in basketball has to be one of the most ignorant things you could say.

1-Competitive balance will weed out some of the D4 big boys, but Waterford is public and St. Wendelin just made back to back final fours from this district and they didn't do it the "recruiting" private school way. Arlington has done just fine in D4 from this area as well.
2-You don't need the "best/high-profile" coach. You need the "right" coach. They're not the same. I also agree that timing is just as important.
3-Maybe they should learn from the girls program. I didn't hear too many people saying they were "too soft."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't St. Wendelin just shut down?

I realized too late before it was quoted, but I listed good GIRLS programs. Thinking about the Ottoville girls program got me off track.
