Promise you, the problem in Continental is not coaching. Try selfish, delusional parents. I know that is a shocking concept. But afraid it is true. Continental doesn't need better coaches. They need better players preferably with parents that have a clue!!!

We have some downtown fans in Continental who think we need a new coach. I'm not sure what has been brought up to our board but knowing how those idiots operate they probably won't support our coach. Also heard Ottoville's downtown coaches association is blaming the coach for the shortcomings of the season. I have no idea why anyone would want to coach at any level.
That's done nothing but go downhill ever since he took over in OV. Kids just aren't going out for him.
Only thing I've heard about Continental is the HC only wants/allows a couple kids shooting the basketball.

Add Leipsic's Scott Maag to the list who have resigned this offseason:

big loss for Leipsic....Scott built that program and led it through the most successful 10 years in Vikings history.

Totally agree with you. Sad to say this but some of our parents are embarrassing.

It's not just the Ottoville basketball coach that kids aren't going out for. You can add soccer and baseball as well. I went to the soccer game this year against Continental and I would say there was maybe 3 kids on the bench. Looking at their baseball picture in the Delphos Herald I counted 11 kids on the team. To the kids that do play thanks for putting in the time. There's still a lot of unselfish fans that enjoy watching you.

Too bad for Leipsic, great coach. Let Dick K. get his 900 wins next year. Ottoville is supposed to have some decent 8th graders coming up, according to my source from Ottoville, but can the program improve? Will they play? It is very difficult to get a coach to hang around Ottoville, Conti., now Leipsic. Too many parents complain, but they have no answers. Good luck to all 3 programs next year. I would bet Leipsic recovers better with a new coach, than the others. Going to be a long off-season for some PCL teams.

Might as well throw P-G in the mix too. I talked to a guy who went to the state tournament this year and he said the talk circling around the Schott is that in time and it may be sooner then you think is that the state tournament teams are gonna be made up eventually of county area teams in this area and various forms of these teams in the higher population areas (ie cities). When this happens the interest in high school basketball will drop like a stone.

I know it's blasphemy, but Ottoville & Ft. Jennings could just consolidate...

Not going to break down each one of these situations but why do people always assume the coach left due to the parents?
Maybe they just weren't that good at what they did or how they ran their programs.

Ask yourself this ..... you are a kid looking to transfer. Who in this area would you want to play for?
Off the top of my head I would say Brett Hammonds, TyMac, Kirk Lehman, Brian Kuhlman, Jaymes Zachrich, Chris Sautter, Doug Davis, .... not exactly a big, long list....

Stop right there...that first phrase..."you are a kid looking to transfer"....that says a lot to me right there. We live in a age now where kids (and parents) always think the grass is greener on the other side. If YOU are a kid looking to transfer...that's a YOU problem. If you have a good group of friends, are doing well in school, sports seems to be going well....probably not a candidate to transfer. Not always, but most of the time when a kid transfers, they are lacking somewhere mentioned above, i.e. you've inherited a "problem child".
And my next question to kids (parents) who think transferring is the answer...what happens if it doesn't work out at school #2?? Going to transfer again??

Why is it always a "you" problem? That's not always the case.
OHSAA allows transfers....moves etc... so as long as they fit the criteria, game on.

I was just providing a hypothetical. Maybe I shouldn't have used "transfer".
Say you are just looking at who you'd want to play for in the area at this time.....

I went to some of the 7th grade boys tournament games and Ottoville had 2 tall kids that played well and a guard who could handle the ball. Hope they stay with it and progress. If their 8th grade has some descent players then they have something to look forward to.

The Pirates are going to need a little more dedication out of our youngsters if we are going to compete in the PCL.

Ottoville and FJ should have joined 40-50 years ago. They surely should have before they both built new schools about 10 years ago. Now both schools have declining enrollment, and empty classrooms. It is a shame because FJ & Ottoville would be a perfect fit. They would be strong in all sports, maybe even Football. Oh well, we have this conversation every year after the state BB tournament. Go Green Musketeers....

Just like grammar and respect past (sic) you by?

You can't be serious about your above comment, or CAN you? Bone to pick with Korto much?

Since the State Finals game in 2009........

21-3 lost in the Regional Finals.

17-5 lost in Sectional Finals to a team, Continental, that advanced to the Final 4.

18-6 lost in District Finals to an undefeated Edgerton team.

10-13 ONLY losing record in the last 7 seasons!

14-10 lost to higher seeded team.

13-9 lost to higher seeded team.

13-10 lost to higher seeded team.

Flounder........you're living up to the definition of your name....
(verb) 2. tobehaveawkwardly;makemistakes

Was Dick actually coaching.......have you even seen this man coach lately...it's like he is in outer space....maybe you and Dick have something in common.....I have nothing against Dick, but he is only a figment of the old Dick Kortokrax.....move on while some people still respect what you have accomplished.....reminds me of the great athlete that just couldn't let it go and retired many years past his prime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And while I am on the subject.......I personally witnessed everything stated in my previous post at the DSJ/Kalida tourney game.....but what really supports my feelings is when I looked at the Kalida bench during timeouts, the players were actually looking everywhere but at Korto.......such a lack of respect was very evident....maybe the players deserve more...just a thought!!!!!

Kortokrax has become Joe Paterno.

Look at the similarities between the 2
-Both were great coaches
-Neither one knew when to retire
-both had sons who enabled them to stay on
-both became the all time wins leaders as a result of not leaving
-both coached at schools with delusional fan bases
-both had assistant coaches who were ruined due to ###### crimes
-both wore khakis to every game at the end of their careers.
