Flounder is absolutely right, this is nothing remotely close to the Smith situation. DSJ fans were embarrassed by what was going on in the basketball program those couple of years.

You guys both make my point for me. Jefferson isn't your school, and you likely don't know what went on with their program. There are likely Jefferson fans who were 'embarrassed' by their program. I'm not saying they are right, just that the view from inside is often different than from the outside.

Only difference I see from comments is no one was in DE's corner while many seem to be defending Coach Smith.......after what I witnessed, it was impossible to defend DE!!!!!

Better hope so if you're Delphos, because it's looking pretty bad from the outside. :blackdot:

How so? To people who follow high school basketball in the area, they know how this guy operates, and don't blame people from DJ from being upset at all.

Hearing the axe will fall next at Pandora Gilboa. Logan Smith being forced out in what sounds like an ugly situation, but pretty much par for the course for those familiar with PG's past.

I can predict the direction this goes and it is one of two ways: A.) PG hires a young guy with very little experience (i.e. the past 2 guys who coached there.) or B.) some old guy that has coached at a bunch of different schools, like Al Thomas.....and the revolving door will continue.

I would say you missed door C. That's when P-G can't get a coach because there's no applicants. Then one of the idiots on the School Board can have it. Why don't one of the School Board members grow a pair and take it. I would imagine the AD probably is thinking what the heck did I get myself into.

How long has the AD been there...AD jobs are more of a revolving door than coaches anymore. Its too bad, PG has some decent young talent & should be competitive the next couple yrs.

Because I'm a neutral party not from the community of Delphos (ie: looking on from the outside) & the fact that a tenured coach stepped down among rumors about the fans being too harsh, it doesn't look like a very inviting situation for any coach to take. I'm not passing blame on either party for why Smith stepped down (as I said, I'm not close enough to the situation to know). I'm just saying that it doesn't look like a very good situation in general.

I believe one of the "know it all" fathers of these McDonalds All-American players that Pandora has should be the next coach!

When the best player for DJ was the coach's son, that was a problem for some fans. They were jealous. The Smith young man must be something special if he is being considered for a service academy. Even to be considered in an honor. It is a shame. Coach Smith has another career, which I hear, from people I know, that he does a great job. Good Luck DJ. Didn't their football coach quit also this year?

Nann Stechschulte, the girl's coach of Minster steps down. She won over 400 games and 2 state championships! One of the best coaches to step on the hardwood and believe me, over the past few years the complaints and pressure from parents was unreal. Don't let anybody tell you different!

Von......
You are right, but completely different circumstances.....DE lost the team and fans respect...it was a sad time in DSJ history. The stories from his era would have you shaking your head. It was so bad, I gave up my bucket seats. Enter Aaron Elwer and discipline and pride are restored. I no longer have my bucket seats, but still attend most games.......big things are coming in the future at DSJ!!!!!!
Agreed. DE ran the program into the ground for a bit. The players ran wild, there were horror stories of things that went on at practice, etc. I don't like Elwer much personally, but he's good with disciplining his players. As soon as he got there, the problems stopped. DE was an embarrassment.

Not MAC or NWC, but John Willoughby has resigned at Houston. 30 years in and 342 wins.
