I know it's early but the league looks pretty weak this year.

agreed, weak but fairly even. I would say Defiance, OG.....maybe St. Marys or Wapak, Van Wert, Bath. mediocrity seems to be it this year.

4 weeks into the season and only three teams have winning records.

After their opening loss, Defiance looks to be very good again. I expected a pretty big drop off losing Katwan Singleton, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

It's just amazing how fundamentally sound they are.

Kameron Singleton has picked it up where his brother left off. He's averaging a double double and is my pick for WBL poy. Imo league comes down to Defiance and OG.
I am a Spartan, as was my father before me.

Even though Katwan was definitely the best player on the team last year, I think there are still pretty high expectations for this team. The only other notable loss was Detter, three starters are back and the JV team had a decent record so I would've figured some kids there would move up. So far the team has played pretty well at home and not so great away from home.

With Smiddy back and Kam Singleton coming up big in the tournament run last year I expected another pretty good year this year. Katwan was clearly our best player, but he was far from the only that led the title run.

I'm not predicting a state title again, but honestly I'd be a little disappointed if they didn't get back to regionals.

The way its looking so far Defiance and OG.
And since OG moved up D2 they could play 2 times.
OG has some things to work on so right now Defiance is better more fundamentally sound.
But dont sleep on OG as they have a solid PG in Verhoff, Great defensive players in Unterbrink and Stover, a deadly shooter in Winrauch who is on a tear last 3 games hitting 7 threes in one game, and 2 youngsters coming off bench that are getting better every week in Dibble and Kaufman.
OG will have play good game .
They play each other Jan 22nd in Defiance.
Should be a great game.

Also I think Flight Crew made comment that OG is going to struggle find offense.
Winrauch, Verhoff, Unterbrink, Stover, Dibble, Kaufman all have led OG in scoring.
They can score down low and from long range.
As season progresses I think they are going to be even better.
But only time will tell.

I'm personally waiting on January 16! Red pig anyone?

Hell yeah. Get your ticket early, though....will probably be the closest the Supreme Court has been to a sellout in quite awhile.

WBL is 3-6 vs. the NWC, 4-8 vs. the MAC and 2-2 vs. the BVC......does not help that Elida, Celina, Van Wert and Kenton are a combined 3-26.

Things may turn around - maybe it's just been a tough schedule so far - but I can't remember Celina ever being this bad in terms of record. Maybe the coach knew what was coming last year when he resigned. I also can't remember Van Wert being this bad. Haven't won yet?

Ironically these four teams in the WBL play at O-G this year. In reality the O-G Defiance game in Defiance will determine the WBL championship although Shawnee may have a say in that as they host O-G on January 15 and Defiance on February 26. The league is just down right weak this year.

So far this season Shawnee (9-3 ) and Wapak (8-4) seem to be the biggest surprises in the WBL, while Bath is the hard luck team so far this season losing games by 5,3,3,4 and 1 point so far this season. After Bath/ St. Mary's the WBL gets pretty bad in the bottom half.

The WBL is currently 10-13 vs. MAC teams
4-7 vs. NWC teams
2-4 vs. BVC teams
0-5 vs.TRAC

Defiance moves into sole possession of first place with a 58-45 win over O-G. Thank God this game was at home, because Defiance has played quite well there this year but not so much away from home. I didn't realize everyone else in the league had at least two losses already. The Bulldogs still have to go to Wapak and Shawnee though, and probably won't have Singleton for the rest of the season, so it isn't over yet.

Just heard it's a shoulder injury out for a couple weeks. Back first of February. Why would you come on here and say possibly out for the year????
