Sarcasm at it's best RM. That's one of the assistants I was referring to earlier. I've heard the PH powers that be are tired of his antics.

Tiffin paper indicates HL boys coach may be on way out.....several players at board meeting asking board to keep him as coach. Usually means board has other ideas.

Supposedly, both basketballs are not getting renewed and the AD has turned in her resignation.

The board suspended him twice last year over the North Baltimore incident. The second time for showing someone the video of what happened. He missed the Leipsic game at the end of the year. I was told the board wanted him gone then.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but there was a fight in the post game handshake line of the HL/ NB game earlier this season. Not sure if the fallout from that was included with this coaching change. HL has had some thin years for quite a while, and it may just be time for a new coach. Look, high school coaches have the least amount of security of any coaches from high school on up. They are on one year- supplemental contracts, and EVERY coach is non-renewed every year, then some are subsequently offered another one year contract. You could go 28-0 win the state title and still not be renewed. Likewise you can go 0-22 for 10 years and keep being offered contracts. Boards don't have to give a reason for non-renewal.

According to the article below, Dr. Helms needs to have a job. In addition, he was an assistant varsity basketball coach at Fostoria during their glory years in the early 90's. Could this be a good fit?

It's hilarious when small towns try to run a coach out of town. It's usually only a few parents that think their little Billy needs more PT or thinks their team has way more natural talent then they really do. But, it really starts a never ending cycle of bad teams.

2nd thing about coaching in small towns.....Who do these people think are going to come in and coach their kids? Phil Jackson? It's not like people are lining up to coach at........Ottoville. All 42 boys in the high school. They are lucky to have one or two good athletes on the team, ha.

Do you even know anything about coaching in small towns? The mindset of people in small towns are not about getting a Phil Jackson quality of coach. I mean people like yourself that harp on the parents or people of a certain small town maybe don't know exactly what goes on and thats where the credibility lies more within the actual people of that small town not some outsider like yourself. Regardless of the small amount of kids at the high school or not, it is the coaches job to coach their team to being successful. Yes talent does help, but also is having the right coach to make the kids better. Ottoville had a pretty solid team this year, beat some pretty good opponents like St Johns for instance and nearly won the league. All because of having one or two good athletes though right? "ha"

We need to find out how credible this resident is. First, did the resident attend the camp and was the camp held at the Dollar General Court? Second, what's their opinion on sidewalks?

I'll admit that was good.

Anyways it must be a common thing among the rest of the sports and maybe not just basketball. Some kids just don't seem to participate as much in these sports. Some that are capable of playing 2-3 sports, may only play just 1.

Oh I wouldn't say that. Maybe some do, but I believe there are some that just want to focus on one sport. And if kids are getting discouraged at a young age, the parents need to step in then.

Super Parents are the reason these kids get discouraged.

* Taking the 8 best players to tournaments each weekend.
* Two of them play every minute of every game
* Set offenses at the fifth grade levels, with designated shooters

Sound like fun to me!! Especially if your the coaches son that gets to shoot

Delta is open, the panthers have improved over the past 5 years or so and lost in the district finals last season to OG

From what I've heard there is very little interest in this job. Too bad for PH, just shows how far the program has fallen.
