I did speak with a resident of Ottoville who's kids are graduated and out of the system.
Apparantly, boys as young as 2nd grade are hanging basketball already due to a camp last summer.
That is too bad if true.

Not sure exactly what went on, but these boys that are discouraged, weren't "encouraged"....let's put it that way.

We need to find out how credible this resident is. First, did the resident attend the camp and was the camp held at the Dollar General Court? Second, what's their opinion on sidewalks?

The good news is that the 2nd graders have many, many years to change their minds...

Are we really worried what 2nd graders think of the varsity head coach?

No, but we should be concerned about what they think of basketball.

Apparently you don't know Ottoville to well! ha. A couple people in town stalled a Dollar General going in and some town council members (well maybe one member) trying to ram sidewalks down residents throats.

Can anyone find out if this was going to be Ottoville's next state caliber team?

Not sure, but their 6th graders look pretty good thus far.

Ottoville has had the best talent in the area in the recent past, yet don't remember any STATE runs from them!!!

Yea, I don't follow them, but I don't recall any regional runs either.

I don't think Ottoville has had much talent since Vorst, Millers, Wehri and Co. in the mid-2000s. Sorry to say, but they haven't had a kid since then, that could even crack that starting line-up.

I remember beating some of those Big Green names in a great game at the Bowling Green Regionals. The best part of that game was watching some Ottoville idiots being escorted out of the arena by Mr. Officer. Sometimes tax money does go to useful purposes.

I never said it ended well, although no one can argue the talent that was on that team. No real excuses though. Anyone who's made a good tournament run will tell you it's not easy and those years should be cherished, especially in small towns like in Putnam County.

Turnwald in Ottoville, to bring this back full circle, will provide a consistent product from year to year with the occasional tournament run. People, parents especially, need to have rationalized expectations from year to year.
