It was remarkable to see the support of so many people from this part of the state and amazing that, when offering congratulations, how many people didn’t mention a thing about Coach Lehman’s coaching ability, but instead for what he’s like off the court. I was not around when Lehman played in high school, and too young to remember him coaching at other places I guess. After 7 losing seasons out of the previous 9, it was an interesting time, if not exciting, thinking about the hometown hero with an established coaching record, coming back to take over at his alma mater, back in 2003. I remember taking note at what the reaction was during the introductions for the first DHS game with Lehman as coach. There was a noticeable but only slightly elevated cheer when the coaches were announced, and I kind of wished there was more of a thrill in the gym. I don’t remember who won the game, but Defiance has won in the long run.
---All-tourney team in Division II:
Katwan Singleton (35 points, 20 rebounds, 10 assists, 3 blocks), Kameron Singleton (20 points, 15 rebounds), Wes Detter, Antwon Lillard (39 points, 12 rebounds), & AJ Harris (19 points).
---Dunbar had won 8 straight state tournament games (that's 4 state titles) before losing to Defiance.
---The Bulldogs are now 8-2 all time in team bracket state tournament games. The only 2 losses were in baseball.
---As good as the WBL has been in basketball over the years, Defiance is only the 2nd WBL school to win a state title after O-G.
---I think I saw that Defiance only led for 8 ½ minutes combined in both games. Including OT.
---Just stunning that this team out-rebounded both opponents, especially a huge CCC team by 9, after what seemed like losing the rebound stat in over half the regular season games.
---By the way, Defiance beat 2 teams from the vaunted, big city North Coast League.
---This year’s seniors played in 101 games, easily the most in any 4-year span in DHS history, and went 86-15 (85.1%) in those games.
---Defiance is also 124-23 (84.3%) since the breakout 21-3/WBL Champ team in 2010, and 153-36 (81.0%) since Lehman’s first winning record (last 8 years), and has 3 WBL titles in the last 6 years, after winning 4 in the previous 36 years or so.
(OK I guess a couple things listed here were in other threads in this forum, that's where I saw them.)

This from the 2013 Baseball State Tournament Program: St. Henry has 3 baseball State Championships - 1999 in D4, 2000 in D4, and 2003 in D3. They were runner-ups in 1945 and 1946 - I bet Wally Post played on those teams.

Wally Post signed with the Reds after his Junior Yr. in H.S. - 1946. As a result, he was not eligible to play his senior year.

Yes, this year's program said LCC's state championship team last year was coached by Bob Seggerson. They need to put Dan kern in charge of their record keeping.
