Don't like Versailles gets a "Second chance". They lost. Shroder should just get a forfeited win from Purcell and move on. A few years ago Continental got second place in the Boys State tournament to Africentric. Africentric lost their state title because of paperwork not right making a player ineligible. Ohsaa never issued Continental a State championship. Just not RIGHT!!
I think Africentric beat Continental in the Semi-final that year.

This is BS. Boot the kid off the team and allow the team to move on. Bout half tempted to stay home from State and keep my money this year. This Dan Ross is a dictator, much like our current individual occupying the office of President....

The girls team plays at 6 and the boys at 9. It might be rushed, but I think you can make both.
well I won't be at either unfortunately...keep forgetting how much shorter high school games are. could probably still catch most of the boys game

Here's a question... since the ineligible player did not participate in the Badin or Versailles games do those wins count in the record books for Purcell Marian and their coach?
I think I read those games count as a 2-0 forfeit for Purcell

Who cares about another game? That is really stupid. None of the players are on the other team, nor are the coaches....and there's no way they'll be able to go watch each other anyway..... Stupid. Just play the damn game at a normal time and move on.

Perhaps the OHSAA needs to provide every school with a checklist for transfers to determine eligibility.
Wonder what the team Purcell Marian defeated with the ineligible player thinks about them not being able to advance in the tourney? I don't believe the ineligible player played against Versailles or at all in the district tourney.
Schools have a check list if they read the by-laws. Too bad for the other kids, but that is why the rules are there. If they want to blame anyone they need to look to their principle, AD & coach not OHSAA.

They can get to both games, though it will be tight. I'm not sure you understand small schools and their fans. This is big stuff and it makes sense to accomodate them.

Versailles t shirt shop needs to make up some tourney shirts that say "Tiger Tournament Basketball" on the front and "Two and Done" on the back or vice versa 😎

I think OHSAA should have just declared the boy ineligible for the remainder of this year. Allowed the team to continue, and fined the school for the mistake instead of taking away a possible State run from Seniors/Juniors on the team. OHSAA says they are here for the development of the student athlete.

Develop them then. Quit handing out rulings like this and the one in Cleveland that left out a #1 seeded team due to an Administration error. Start Fining the schools that make mistakes like this and quit disqualifying entire teams for mistakes made by the adults.

The case in Northeast ohio where the team is out for too many games played...like the girls had a choice as to whether they played that one game or not...fine the school and allow the team to continue.

Tough for the Versailles team to pull together in a day...and get ready for a tournament game when they were eliminated 9 days ago. Some of them have been swining bats and getting ready for other sports...

How tough for them to get ready for a team they know nothing about...

Poor decision making by the OHSAA. Tough for Purell Marion...tough for Versailles...just poor. Gotta be a better way of handling these things. Sometimes the "educated" make un-educated decisions.

There are times and places for rule changing. That time is not after getting caught. All member schools agree to follow the OHSAA rulebook. These are the consequences.

I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.

This isn't an OHSAA problem. This is a Purcell Marion problem. Opposing coaches, and those upset that the rules weren't followed need to address their ire toward the appropriate entity.

So give us your solution and let us punch holes in it. There wasn't a decision to make here. The OHSAA simply followed the established rules.
