Pandora's boys soccer team was majority girls at the end. I think the final year only four boys were on the team.

I guess since my numbers weren't disputed we are in agreement that football isn't paying the bills.

Just think of all the money soccer will make once they move over and play under the lights. If the Cory Rawson school district spent that much on development of that soccer field then the problems run much deeper than athletics.
Is wrestling the cause of the basketball program being horrible? Why are baseball and track so bad? Why no
complaints about girls soccer hurting volleyball?

My point is this. Coaches, Administrators and the community would rather blame soccer for killing football instead of admitting that the problem is a lack of dedication from the kids, community and administration. Open your eyes and do something about it. By ypur own admission only 12 kids played soccer. How much did that hurt football?

While I agree that CR is to small for both and with soccer a non revenue sport,I know what my personal opinion is, I still think the larger issue isn't so much the 2 /5 soccer kids that MIGHT play if there wasn't soccer, but I have to wonder about the 30/40/50+ kids walking the halls doing nothing? How do you get them out ??? My opinion is a good coach that isn't to "shabby" of a teacher and WANTS to lead the program. Last guy obviously didn't WANT to be the leader we thought he might be.

I also have to wonder what the real truth is... some on here say youth football and Jr hi football have no bearing on HS program success.... others state it's a must.... ????

I don't have official numbers either but I can guess that you can't fund the rest of the sports on $1200 either (25x6x8)... So..

Just think of all the money soccer will make once they move over and play under the lights Sorry not gonna show up to watch CR soccer on a friday night (or any other). Would rather watch Vanlue take on St. Wendelin in football. Heck I'd even rather watch a 7th grade girls basketball game. If the Cory Rawson school district spent that much on development of that soccer field then the problems run much deeper than athletics.

complaints about girls soccer hurting volleyball The era of large numbers of kids playing three sports is over. Soccer hurting volleyball? Volleyball has actually been good the last 5 or 6 years (or whenever Susan Rossman took over.) Can't help it v-ball has developed into the league's best sport top to bottom.

My point is this. Coaches, Administrators and the community would rather blame soccer for killing football instead of admitting that the problem is a lack of dedication from the kids, community and administration. Open your eyes and do something about it. By ypur own admission only 12 kids played soccer. How much did that hurt football Again with the lack of dedication? I digress... Your right it is the kids. There just aren't enough athletes in an era of few competing in three sports.

So- who are the "Final Four" and what strengths do they bring to the table?

If they're reading this topic they should at least be going in with their eyes wide open!!

We go through the soccer / football debate every time. And soccer person gets all up in arms. The issue is very simple, once you begin a program, it's very difficult to end it, nearly impossible because you always have that 8-10 kids you don't want to shut down a program on. You started the soccer program when you had 30 football players and times were good. The net effect is those young kids, who before transitioned to football once they were 11-12 years old, now just stay with soccer. It may only be 2-3 kids per class, but in a small school, that's 10-15 kids from grades 9-12. The difference in having a JV team or not.
Next, you get below 20, no JV. So your putting freshman and sophomores in a position of, if they are not varsity level players as freshman and sophomores, they don't play. They can get a varsity letter in soccer, and the talent pool thins.

For many of you, you may not care, and that’s fine. But overall, from a community/ school standpoint, people are not going to follow a losing program year, after year, after year. And that’s what you have now. A 20 player varsity team, with little depth, no JV team and a mediocre soccer team. No one but the parents follow either team.

There's a reason the low man on the totem pole at the OHSAA gets stuck as the representative of soccer.

With all of the concussion issues associated with football
Cory Rawson has the chance to get ahead of the curve and build a hancock county power house soccer program.

HH it is time to get with the program. I am sure the soccer program will welcome you with open arms. It is not as if you have been coaching/watching real football on friday night in hornet land.

BOB, Of course you can not possibly get a concussion playing soccer.... :wallbash: ..Just keep kidding yourself.

Rocketman, I find it amusing that your interest in the football program at C-R is so high and your sarcasm is truly noted. :hifive2: I guess it stems from all those beatdowns C-R used to give the Rockets back in your day.........After all, I believe it was a long time before the Rockets finally beat the Hornets. Paybacks must still be sweet.........but it's old news. :coffee:

Lefty, You stated that the former coach put his "heart and soul into the program" at C-R. It takes a pretty big man to do that in six months. Congrats to him....

I know good programs can fall far and quick (Hardin Northern being a prime example) but didn't CR make the play offs, what 6-7 yrs ago? Who was the coach then that saw success with basically the same amount of kids on he team as now

Give the keys to Mike Cramer and let him run the program. CR community will like the results.

Schafer was the coach then. Left for C. Grove

2009- Andy Schafer, who is now the head coach at Grove. CR had a talented Senior class... but with the success Schafer has had at Grove maybe he doesn't get enough credit for what he did at CR.

What community wouldn't want the success of the MSML dynasty- the one that Cramer got headed in the right direction.

I will have to pass, I will be too busy washing the stones in my drive way to get to a Friday night kick ball game. Besides with the numbers you didn't disagree with I'm not sure CR could afford all the juice boxes, snacks and participation trophies for everyone.
