Be careful what you wish for. I have watched and supported Bath Boys Basketball for years. Their last few seasons have been outstanding and brought great excitement to the Bath community. Some people wanted to see Davis go but had no idea what they were getting in return. Most people realize that after loosing so many seniors, they are back to rebuilding. I question if Shawn Allen is the one to do it? I am completely baffled at the downward spiral this team has been on since the first week of the season. It's obvious that his players have no respect for him. If you have a son playing college ball, why not go watch him instead of ruining another basketball program?

Actually neither! just a spectator that heard lots of rumors about what went on at LSH. Seems like same thing here. Enjoy basketball but this is hard to watch!

And Talent has nothing to do with this?

Yep, If you want to see that group of boys do well you will need to attend a baseball game in the Spring.

Hey mentor08 - you cannot possibly be suggesting that Davis would have guided this team to ...a winning season???

Just go to a soccer game and you'll enjoy a bad basketball game a lot more.

I can sympathize with your plight. I have been a season ticket holder for Lima Senior for several years including the 7 long years he was coach of the Spartans.
Every year, they never got better. The mistakes they made in game 1 they made in game 10 and game 15 and game 20. Every out of bounds under the opponents basket resulted in a layup in the paint. We never defended back cuts to the basket. Findlay, LCC and OG among others scored at will sending cutters down the baseline every year. If we had a really good player, like Tyler White for example, other teams would play the same defensive scheme to control him knowing Lima would not, could not make adjustments. I can't say why this happened because I have no information about what went on behind the scenes but after watching 80+ games many of us were ready for a change. Good luck

It will take 5-6 years to build program and develop talent. Allen is a good coach and parents need to stay out, and be quiet. It is going on everywhere, parent involvement is rampant, and hurting programs all over.
Talent level is down and parents need to step back and see the picture from program standpoint, not just where it impacts Jr.

Parents want coaches to make the team's a winner every year, but don't want coaches making decisions about their kid. Don't hold then accountable for off season workouts, team camps, weight lifting, and open gyms...
But will confront coaches and teachers if Jr. Isn't doing well because it can't be the players fault.
Let the coaches coach and parents need to just stay out.
Davis took what, 8 years for talent and then back to back regionals. They wanted to run him off too prior to the regionals....never stops.

Davis knew to get while the getting was good. Last years team was good because Basketball came first to that set of kids, they played it during the Summer and were good at it, and four of the starters were 6-7, 6-6, 6-5, and 6-2. Davis had little to do with it. Shawn Allen would have won with that set of kids. The current kids are athletes who are good at other sports who happen to play basketball. Nothing wrong with that, but its just the way it is.

apparently people want miracles...1 senior, who rides the bench.

starting freshman, no size, kids who aren't totally sold out for basketball...Calipari couldn't put together a winning season with that.

give it time, Shawn is good coach. It'll buff out

Mentor08 stop reading the message boards of the past and give the Coach a chance. Are kids who played under Allen at LSH are getting much playing time this year? And how much of a hit did Bath take from Graduation? . Bath was predicted to win no more than 3 games at the end of last season by the power heads at Bath and Coach Allen has them over that. I'd say he's on a good path to building.

Show me the evidence!

You have a guy who can coach at Bath right now. Give him time. Talent will come back.

Coach Davis knew this day was coming @ Bath, which is partly why he applied for LS job before it went to Coach Simpson, & then the transfers came in there. Way too early to make any judgment on him @ Bath already

C'mon C-town.........

In 96 UMass had to vacate their final 4 appearance for NCAA violations and return $151,000.00 in NCAA tournament revenue........then in 2008, Memphis had to also vacate their final 4 appearance......both incidents were on Calipari's watch.......very similar to what Tressel was doing at OSU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are many interesting and valid points in this thread. As a long time Bath resident/spectator, I think it is fair to say that there are some who are questioning if Allen is the right man for the job. I don't think the questions are coming due to the lack of wins (that was expected)! The questions I am hearing are more having to do with Allen's commitment to dedicating the time people feel is necessary to rebuild the program. A few of the concerns I have heard from some of the parents in the stands are the lack of team play in practices (a lot of time spent on individual drills vs. the boys playing/scrimmaging together as a team) and the lack of practices/practice time (no Saturday morning shoot arounds, 3 days off of practice President's Day weekend). Like some of the others who have posted, I am certainly hopeful that things are headed in the right direction because the team is definitely hard to watch right now!

I agrre he needs time, but the lack of practice is a concern. To shoot good, you have to shoot a lot.
