Got a text message a little while ago informing me that it might be time to start a new
thread on the "State of OG Basketball"......with the happenings the past several weeks it
just might be the right time to get this one started......

We did receive a very heartfelt response from the mother (well, at least I think it is the
mother) of one of the OG players.....next to LCC and maybe Elida threads (and yeah Kalida
ones too) the OG threads always seem to tug at their fans passions.....I know a lot of these
people and they can sometimes be a little overbearing about their team....I mean, how many
threads are devoted solely to JV teams?......so as the rest of the season pans out, check
back often to get all the updates.......RM

Apparently it's been slow around here. Time to "create" some controversy.

the future holds 2 tough games this weekend, home Friday Vs. Wapak and at Napoleon Sat. That is about as far in the future as the OG players and coaches are concerned about.

I don't think Rocketman is creating the controversy.........it seems it was created some time ago by the OG posters!!!!!!!

Bobby,
it's been quite awhile since you've felt comfortable here on the RC...you seem to have an issue with us and I can't seem to figure it out.....if you're so upset with me/us I could refer you to the same place that Johnny Football has gone for rehab assignment....thanks RM

I've also "heard" that Vic Whiting is coming back to coach football at DSJ, Brett Norris coming back to coach basketball, and the Beastie Boys are scheduled to play at halftime at the next DSJ home game at the Vatican....

OG is D3 royalty in NWOH and will continue to be in the foreseeable future. Smart money will be on OG or LCC to rep NWOH in Columbus until someone else can step-up and take it from them...but who? L-B is breaking in a new leader, Archbold, maybe (how many more yrs for Krause?), the MAC elite go south come tourney time..perhaps a bump to D2 could slow their roll...but I would still expect them to consistently win district titles. And this is coming from a non-OG resident

Their biggest issue is keeping air in the bus tires.

What does the future hold? That's an easy one, basketball games, some wins, some losses. As far as the future, we're fine, we always are, but thanks for your concern. I guess it's better to be questioned and doubted than to not have to be thought of at all.

I would love to know who texted you to start this thread, if that really happened, but I know you won't say, you only call out high school kids by name, ironic.

St Henry is in the same District as LCC and OG. I would Not count out St Henry, they are very good.

Whenever there any entity or team or group or whatever you want to call it has consistently performed at a high level perhaps even reaching a pinnacle or winning a championship or two or three over the last ten to twelve years and starts to have a chink in the armor the talk of problems will start to rear its ugly head. Right now the Titans are having some problems that need to be address but they are problems that can be fixed. Every team regardless of the sport hits a wall during the regular season and needs to refocus and adjust to the various situations that present themselves over the course of the season. The calendar at this typing says February and there is time for the Titans to do just that. You want to be playing your best when the tournament starts and if the past is an indicator the Titans will right the ship and make a run in March.
I know the pundits are probably saying that sure they will make a run in March considering that they will go north again to play in tournament compared to going south where the competition is much stronger. However keep in mind that any team that has an opportunity to play O-G in the tournament game will try to create problems for the Titans no matter which direction they come from. There are still 7 games in the regular season to play yet so the controversies of the previous weeks that have been blown completely out of proportion have a chance to go away and the Titans will be stronger because of it.

They are in the same district as LCC. O-G plays in the Anthony Wayne district. St.Henry and LCC could and very well will play in the ONU district.

You are correct. I read the OHSAA page incorrectly.

It seems to me, there was talk around this time last year about the Titan's demise. Ty-Mac and the boys figured it out last year and made a regional final appearance. I would think this years version will do the same or better.

OG is in a very enviable position from a basketball standpoint. They have 3 junior high programs that feed into the high school. I'm not sure there is another school that can claim that, at least in NW Ohio in D3. That means you have 15 starters and probably 30+ freshman basketball players year, after year, after year. That competition pushes the bar very high. I can see where OG JV boys and girls hoops are talked about. In a program like that, you have very few freshman and sophomores who play varsity, but they are also very successful as JV and freshman programs, and the tradition just continues.

St Rose, St Gerard and St Charles don't play separately in junior high any more. They combine for one team in each grade and play as LCC now. The other 4.....well.......

True, LCC has Allen County and the surrounding counties as feeder systems, but from a public school standpoint, OG has a great gig going for D3. Most D 3 schools don't have this.

The person who texted was a parent of one of the players.....you'd be quite surprised by the number I receive from many different sources....
I don't believe I've "called out" any Ottawa players.....people do talk, and sometimes we listen.

Any school that has open enrollment, adjacent or statewide, has a pretty large feeder system area.
