It's been that way in the past. Never happens.

It happened in 2003 and 2004.

2006 state championship

Marion Local 17
Shadyside 0

i think shadyside gets an unfair slight from that one game. They have dominated small school football on the other side of the state for years. Nobody is going to beat marion local this year. It is the best small school team since that dsj team.

Agreed. I've never understood why people think it's fun to mock a team of high school kids.

Shadyside has nothing to be ashamed of for their performance in the state finals. They have beaten everyone outside of the MAC on a regular basis and have earned their way. All this really proves is how bad D-6 & 7 football is outside of this area. I am not sure it's worth pounding your chest on how many state titles a certain league has. Most people outside of this area have very little respect for small school football.

This I agree with.

This has more to do with 'most peoples' ignorance than anything else. When you see a team like Coldwater competing with and often beating Northeast Ohio powers, and then consider that Coldwater often gets beaten by smaller schools in its own league, well, I'm not sure how someone wouldn't respect small school football.

Not many D5/ D6 or D7 teams in Ohio could compete in the MAC.

Not necessary ignorance, I think most people look at the type of big time D-1 athletes that play in the larger divisions. Coldwater is not small school. What Marion Local has accomplished is much more impressive.

I think the ohsaa should match shady with ML in the semis. Their region had their chance last year to play in the finals against ML. Give another region a shot this year.

Gonna give this a try...made a map of the 8 teams left in D7. I'm not sure how the Arlington/Grove winner would NOT play the ML/Lehman winner...

You're likely right. In my opinion, final four games should not be determined based on location. It should attempt to separate the best teams to ensure the best championship matchup. Too often do the two best teams play in week 14.

I believe it should be fixed on a yearly rolling basis.

Should not be up to the OHSAA to determine the best two teams to set a final match-up.
Should not be based on travel distance.
Should not be up for manipulation by the OHSAA at any point. If St. Johns and Marion Local do not play each other until the finals, then so be it. An all MAC final is better than a lot of previous year finals with the OHSAA manipulating the semi-finals to have MAC school beat MAC school.

It will be just as bad. And what does that have to do with it? DSJ has no business in the state title game this year and neither does Shadyside or Trimble or most of the teams on that side of the state in D7 for that matter.

Could it happen? Maybe. Will it happen? Doubtful.

And I'm curious as to why you 'can't wait' for it to happen? Why would you want to see a blowout like that?
