Here come the haters and the experts in DW269. "HUGE advantage in coaching dept" - wonder what premise this is based on?
They aren't haters just because they picked your team to lose.

What's it based on? The fact you have never competed with Schulte and the Jays and Schulte is arguably the best coach in NW ohio? That's hating or logic?

Arlington offense is very average.

I'm not sure you have looked at their offensive stats. Take away all the inferior opponents and Arlington has still done well offensively against Liberty Benton and McComb. Good running back, solid line and a QB and supporting cast that can get it done. If limited mistakes and turnovers I will take Arlington in this one. Their defense isn't to shabby either.

Only MAC teams beat MAC teams in the playoffs.

I totally understand the stance that BlueJay and Bob is taking - Arlington hasn't beaten DSJ yet, and we have had a more than a few chances. I thought last year just might be the year, but it was the worst result imaginable. I will say, however, that I think this Arlington team has all the pieces. Great size up front, an all Ohio RB, threats on the outside and that final missing piece - a QB that at times throws it very well, but always is a threat to run the ball. Defensively, this team has improved the greatest since last year. Much more physical up front, a very good LB core and finally, a defensive backfield that can run and defend. I will say it again - the MAC schools have all the respect in the world and it is deserved. However, if there was ever a year - this is it. Looking forward to a good game.

Except when they don't. Rare but it does happen

Arlington played a total of four 2014 playoff teams from three different divisions (VII, VI and V). If I'm not mistaken, they were still 3rd in total offense (yardage) and 2nd in scoring in the 12 team BVC. Not bad.

Also, that is a skewed number because I do believe that North Baltimore's offense was up there but when you don't play anybody you can look pretty good on paper.

I love my Jays, but I just don't see them pulling this one out........our offense is very offensive, to say the least.....Arlington is no Minster, St Henry, ML, Coldwater, or maybe even Ft Recovery, but I think they are good enough to beat DSJ.......this year they have a great opportunity to hand it to the Jays.......the BVC is very hard to judge.....I witnessed the McComb/Leipsic game and felt both were sorry teams.......I felt the Jays would beat either of those teams easily.....playoff football and anyone can beat anyone on that given night..........Good Luck to the Jays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't underestimate Arlington by any means. Rettig is a great high school football player and tough to defend against, and their line is a very nice D-VII line.

As far as the BVC goes, they are certainly no MAC nor does any BVC fan claim to be. But since 2004 they have made 5 state semi final games with two state final appearances and one state championship. They have competed very well in the playoffs.

DSJ last year wasnt much to sneeze over and absolutley crushed basically this same Arlington team. Marion & Coldwater beat us handily last year and they're both even better this year. Arlington/Ft. Recovery would be an interesting matchup IMO.

That is kind of my point, this is basically the same Arlington team as last year, but a year older...... and it is not the same DSJ's team.

But who knows, that's why they actually play the games.

Stronger, faster, more diverse version of last year.

The playoffs are a new season.
IMO, the coaching edge, definitely goes to Schulte and his staff. But I don't think that coaching overcomes the talent deficit here.
SJ will be prepared and play hard, but not enough horses in this race.
The sad thing is the prize for winning this region is ML.

Flounder - I think both Leipsic and McComb both have improved. McComb lost a lopsided game to Arlington and followed it up with almost pulling off a major upset in losing to undefeated LB by 3 pts. McComb missed a FG from 35 yards as time expired. Leipsic continues to improve and played very well against Arlington giving us our toughest game of the year (outside of loss to LB). BVC is hard to read - some very good teams at the top but absolutely pathetic teams in the middle and bottom of league. Arcadia, CR, Riverdale, Vanlue and NB are some of the worst teams you will see. HL was decent at best and VB was pretty solid, but not up to the caliber of Arlington and LB. None of this matters now - time to play the game and see what happens!

Arlington has been very consistent all year, sans the Leipsic game (still scratch my head on that one). Anyway, comparing scores is dangerous, but they have 1 common opponent with DSJ,and that's Parkway. Arlington won in week 2 34-6, and DSJ won 43-12 in week 8. So I think this will be a good one. You simply can't compare the two teams schedules, DSJ played 7 teams with records .500 or better, Atown 3.
