WBL Prediction Contest, Week 7
#1
Posted 05 October 2014 - 10:17 PM
(3-3) St. Marys at Defiance (0-6)
(2-4) Van Wert at Celina (3-3)
(2-4) Elida at Kenton (4-2)
(3-3) Bath at Shawnee (1-5)
Game of the week: Maybe the last big game of the season in the league, as the top three teams have shown definite separation from the rest of the league. O-G is getting no help from Oak Harbor and there's probably a chance it could miss the playoffs with 8 wins. Wapak might not get a home playoff game if it doesn't win out.
Last week, 34 people made picks, and two people forgot, leaving 29 people that have selected every week. It was a rough week as only two people were fortunate enough to win 4 games, and 18 people - over half - had losing records. Two people even went just 1-4. The consensus went 2-2-1, with Bath/Van Wert being a rare tie.
Wapak (win) was the only unanimous pick, while Celina (loss) was next with 32 out of 34, O-G (loss) and Elida (win) had 30 picks, and Bath/Van Wert both had 17.
bigred55 is the new sole leader, even with only getting 3 correct last week. 8 people remain two games back as we end into the backstretch of the season...

St. Marys- might get ugly, but Defiance could suprise..
Van Wert- The Cougars are very much overlooked and could be dangerous.
Kenton- could possibly get ugly against that week Elida D.
Bath- The Wildcats should pull this one out easily.

St. Mary's - They seem to play to their level of competition, but I don't think it is possible to stoop that low.
Celina - Similar teams, but I feel Celina will be a little more prepared. Should be a close one.
Kenton - Not wasting my time typing insight for this one
Bath - Just the better team, not sure how Shawnee pulled out that St. Mary's game though in the fashion they did.

(5-1) O-G at Wapak (6-0): Wapak seems to be in a completely different class than everyone else in the league. Someone is getting me the tape of their game against Defiance today, I'm very interested to see some of their schemes they are doing on both sides of the ball. They seem to have athletes everywhere.
(3-3) St. Marys at Defiance (0-6): Wow, Defiance is historically bad this year and it really surprises me. I thought they had some skill guys and an athletic QB that could do some things, but without being able to stop anybody they aren't going to be able to get anything going. St. Marys is doing what I expected them to do with Frye back at the helm. A .500 season would be a minor miracle in Rider country after the last 5-6 years.
(2-4) Van Wert at Celina (3-3): Van Wert is coming on VERY strong and will be very good in a very short amount of time, but I still think Celina has enough and is playing at home to outgun them for at least one more year. Next year might be a different story.
(2-4) Elida at Kenton (4-2): Too much defense for Kenton for Elida to even breathe. This should be ugly, and by ugly for this game I mean like 28-7 but it's never even in doubt.
(3-3) Bath at Shawnee (1-5): Bath is an improved team that is a lot better coached than I thought they would be. Shawnee is almost as bad as Defiance, not a good mix.

St Mary's v defiance- this one will be ugly as frye pours it on, 55-20 roughriders.
Elida v Kenton- The bulldogs made a good move last week as carpenter took over the defensive calls and switched to the 3-5 and Harmon is now calling the offense. I think the bulldogs match up with the wildcats better than what people think. But ill give Kenton the win with home field advantage, 36-28.
Celina v Van Wert- van wert is making it's turn to the top half of the league. And I think they beat an overrated celina team, 27-21.
Bath v Shawnee- Bath has suprised me with how well coached they are and the talent they do have. Didn't think they would win more than 2 games after Aaron smith left. Wildcats beat a bad Shawnee team 35-20.

I won't go against the Titans and I think coach will have them prepared but they have to have balance and hold on to the ball. No turnovers. Very close game and a lot riding on this for both teams. Very possible that if OG loses they have 3 weeks of football left and done at 8-2.
(3-3) ST. MARYS at Defiance (0-6)
Defiance is done.
(2-4) Van Wert at CELINA (3-3)
Celina is far from what people predicted and van wert is a lot better than record shows but the dogs will be too much.
(2-4) Elida at KENTON(4-2)
Elida doesn't have the weapons. Kenton by a lot
(3-3) BATH at Shawnee (1-5)
Neither are good but Shawnee is horrible.

St. Marys - A few weeks ago I thougtht this would be a chance for a Defiane win.
Celina - Could be wrong here
Kenton - Strong D leads them to a win
Bath - Just playing better than Shawnee
