Other than when he ran the ball I dont think Craft got touched all night. On a side note the sports reporter on channel 11 said Nathan Craft is the younger brother of Aaron Craft I got a chuckle out of that.

Last night, LB looked like the more seasoned team as they took every opportunity and cashed in when they had to.

Post, this is what I was thinking when the game was unfolding. Pundits on RC kept saying that it didn't matter who each team had played, blah blah blah. Of course it does. LB playing Wynford and especially BG helped prepare them for this game. The starters were in most of those two games. Also, BG's QB was a great preparation for LB defending A-town's QB.

IMHO LB won this game with:
1) Good red zone defense
2) Big play capabilities on both sides of the ball.
.......BJ Lawson was an unsung hero for LB with 185 yards from the line of scrimmage and over 200yds when including kick returns.

Also IMHO Arlington lost this game due to (once again) their lack of a passing game. Their offense was one dimensional. That works when the game is tight or you are winning, but when you fall behind it is a killer. Rettig (who is in a league all his own) accounted for 9+ yards per carry. When the QB position had its "32" touches (14 rushes for negative 13 yards and 18 throws for 59 yards) it accounted for 1.4 yards/effort.

With that said, I will say the same thing I said last year after taking in this game:
1) LB is a "good" D5 football team and will probably host in week 11
2) Arlington is a "very good" D7 football team and will probably go farther than LB in the playoffs.

Just my opinion.

Good luck to both teams here forward, and stay healthy!

Arlington supporters before the game really felt the new QB was going to be the difference this year vs LB. They were right, he lost them the game. Tried to do too much, he is elusive but not anywhere near as good as Hunter from last year.
Arlington will make a nice tourny run if they stay healthy.

Watching him scramble & make bad decisions INT's, fumble, safety, etc. had to be hard for the diehard red devil fans that wanted this win. This win probably didn't mean as much and definitely won't hurt as much to the new QB!

How can you possibly justify saying this. From everything I've read on here, the Arlington community has welcomed this young man with open arms.He made a mistake, paid his dues, and now it's time to move on.

I didn't see the game last night, but I've seen a lot of football over my lifetime and I have never seen one player be solely responsible for a win or a loss. It's a TEAM game. You win as a TEAM and you lose as a TEAM I'm sure there were other players who missed tackles, missed assignments, missed blocks, or maybe, quite possibly Liberty Benton was just the better team last night.

As far as the loss not meaning as much to the young man? Why? Because he just moved into the district. I would think it would mean more to him. As the QB, he didn't play his best in the biggest game of the year. Maybe, and I hope not, he feels like he let his team and the community that has welcomed him down. Arlington fans, if this is the case, please tell him to keep his head up, learn from his mistakes and I'm sure everything will be fine the rest of the year.

First off hats off to both teams, what a good high school football game. I think Arlington from the start were making the plays but as the game went on I think LB and the coaches made the adjustments and the calls to help make some big plays. I think the best back was Rettig and the best QB was Craft, but agreed not one player responsible for win or loss. Both teams played hard for 4 quarters and were evenly matched. I say again the big plays were the difference.

I guess the sign that was put on the L-B bleachers by Arlington didn't hold true " Why did the Eagle cross the road? Because he couldn't cross the goal line" And of course nothing fires a visiting team up better than putting a sign up right out side their locker room about how they will get beat.

Ronald Reagan was president
Nike released slogan "Just Do It"
The game Scattergories made first appearance
Phil Simms was Super Bowl MVP
Cheers, Cosby's and Roseanne most popular shows on TV
The Game Tetris was released
National debt 2,346 Billion
Gas was .95 cents a gallon
LB, CR, PG, HN, Leipsic, McComb have all won league titles (most have won multiple)

All of this happened since Arlington's last BVC championship in football.

Northwestsports, you were correct placing that sign on visitor stands by 15-18 year old female cheerleaders maybe considered ill-advised and possibly childish...

What does it say about the "adult" fans that tore it down?

Good win LB and best of LUCK in the playoffs

This is actually pretty funny. But then again....I thought the Betty White line was funny.

This game was certainly for the taking for the Red Devils. Again, it's that mental edge that pushes LB over the top. I really felt Fuller would be the difference, yet LB's ability to contain him/ turn the ball over made it the difference. Arlington had chances to get control of the game early and did not do it. Seemed like there was a lot of penalties in this game also.

There were only a total of 11 or 12 penalties Only 4 on Arlington, which is much improved upon. I think Arlington's last drive was kept alive on 3 penalties from LB.

Arlington has always been known to pull some boneheaded move like this. They brought the cutout of a cow one year to HN and wrote some degrading remark on it, and then proceeded to get drilled in the game.

almost as classy as the sign entering into Polar Bear Field that said "Not responsible for Lost or Stolen Pride".... I guess that sign got "lost" over the past few years...
