Look for Arlington, LB and McComb to be near the top. Arlington has a lot back, and LB and McComb had some significant losses. Van Buren should be turning the corner, but we've been saying that for awhile. Hopewell, Leipsic, PG could be in that next tier, then Cory,Vanlue, Arcadia, North Baltimore and Riverdale, in no particular order. Pretty bottom heavy this year.

I haven't been to any practices or anything, but from some of the pictures I've seen of the North Baltimore team they appear have very few kids out this year. So as usual, I don't expect anything from them this year. Look for them to finish dead last.

Pretty accurate. Typically the league is broken into three tiers. Top will be LB, McComb, Arlington and I think Leipsic will stay up here. I think the favorite is LB to win it again but will be pushed by Arlington who I think returns a lot of the same guys. Hopewell, I know nothing about so hard to say. The bottom will be NB, CR, Vanlue and Arcadia. Riverdale I am not sure where they will fall in the BVC, middle of the pack?

Looking forwarding to the new layout of the league.

I agree, the top tier will most likely include Arlington, LB and McComb. On offense Arlington loses a great QB in Hunter, wing back Elledge and Freed (RB). They lose center Inninger, TE Blunk and slpit ends McDowell and Green. But return running back stand out A. Rettig and 4 of the 5 O-line. On Offense Liberty-Benton returns QB Nathan Craft, star RB A. Combs, WRs BJ Lawson and C. Conkle, but only a couple returning O-lineman A. Hartley (G) and Iott ©. McComb returns Grubb (QB)and plenty of O-linemen. I gathered most of this information from last year's Courier Preview....and will stand corrected based on anyone elses input. I welcome it.

It has probably been written already, but how are the teams aligned in the BVC North-South this year?

I thought it was "Blanchard" and "Valley"? Not much better than the B1G Leaders and Legends...

If that's what they're gonna use, at least they don't have to have a press conference to explain them.

Liberty-Benton's tentative Defensive set: Possibly joining the D-Line this year is 6-1 #228 A. Combs. He would be joining 3 other returning lettermen Kinsinger, Hartley and Conkle and the 4 would avg 6-1 #220. The linebacking core would also return 3 lettermen in Rhodes, Iott and Schimmoeller and that trio would avg 5-11 #200. Two of the four DB's would comprise Lawson and Rose leaving only two spots (DBs) up for grabs on a defensive unit that allowed just 9 ppg last year (including the playoffs) and only 7 ppg for the regular season.

I've just been sitting back and reading. I don't anticipate that Riverdale will make too much noise...unless the BVC decides to add soccer as a league sport. I don't know too much about this year's football team, except we have a new coach, and we don't grow them very big over here lately. So...having said that, I know we'll have tough games against the upper-level teams in our division. I HOPE the move to the BVC will give us more opportunities to win (I know the NCC hasn't been the greatest lately, but half of the NCC was bigger than Liberty-Benton, so we'll at least be in a league that pits us against more like-sized schools). I am excited that we might find a few rivalries along the way, and hope to see more people in the stands when schools visit us. As for this year, I'm hoping that our boys take well to the new coach, can build some confidence and pick up wins against teams like NB, C-R, Vanlue, and Arcadia...I suppose we'll see how that goes in a few weeks. If we can win a few games, maybe we'll start to see more kids in uniform in coming years. It should be a bit more interesting for me to do the picks this year.

Just try to keep the punches above the belt, HH75. :boxing:

With the additions this year, I figured it was time to update this as I hadn't done it for 3 or 4 years. I lost all my previous work that had the bugs worked out so couple might be off a game or two.

All time standings (1965-2013, league games only)

McComb 306-129-5
Arlington 289-144-6
Cory-Rawson 279-158-3
Hardin Northern 236-190-5
Pandora-Gilboa 235-192-3
Liberty-Benton 229-207-2
Leipsic 224-209-5
Van Buren 188-244-7
Arcadia 138-293-7
Vanlue 42-392-6
Westwood 2-5-2

Bob, you must be 99.99% accurate. If you add up the total wins and total losses the combined record is 2,168-2,163 (only 5 games off). The interesting thing is that the top 7 teams of the standard 10 team league are all above .500. Only 3 teams are below (excluding Westwood). The combine record for Van Buren, Arcadia and Vanlue is 368-929. Interesting info Bob, Thx!

Westwood was one of the original members of the BVC and were replaced by Pandora in 1966. Westwood district was absorbed by Bowling Green City Schools.
