For PG I'd have to say Adam Basinger, Steve Fenstermaker , and Josh Lee. Ryan Murray is right in that conversation.

Roger Hermiller should be mentioned.

For O-G : top 3 ( I lived out of state for much of the 80's - so I missed those teams with Morman, Wishmeyer, etc. from the mid 80's)

Tom Heckman
Tim Pollitz
Ken Pothast

Next 5 in no order :
Ryan Maag
Joe Maas
TJ Metzger
Todd Schumacher
insert whom you might form those teams in the 80's - I know Terry Morman well so I will nominate him !
There are many awesome athlete's that played at O-G but went on to play other sports at the next level- as far Roundballers though tough to beat this list !

Jackson Center-

Tony Meyer and Brian Scoggin were fantastic players that led the tigers to a state title in '85

Jeff Reese Player of the Year in the state in '98

Andy Hoying Player of the Year in the state in 2012 and led the tigers to 27 wins and State Runner-Up Finish
Taking nothing from Jeff Reese, but i'd argue Travis Elsass was the best player on that '98 team. There was a long stretch in that season where he was literally unstoppable in the 4th quarter. It was almost ridiculous.

Surprised there's no love for New Knoxville. Didn't they go 95-5 or something during a 4 year span when Hagemeyer was there? The '08 squad had 6 or 7 guys average double figures, they killed every team they played. That was impressive to watch.

I think it's difficult to define "top" players. Is it individual seasons? Is it some of the best players off of the top "teams" in school history? I've always disagreed with how many awards are designated as most just look at strictly points. Shooting percentage, defense, passing, character are not taken into account. Some kids score 1,000 points, and take that many shots or more!

I was at LB the night Thad Matta came to watch Aaron Craft. That night Josh Lee stole the show. He scored in the mid thirties and shot something unbelievable from the field (like 75%). And most of his shots were jumpers, not lay ups.

Yea, I remember a picture of the P.G. coach and the L.B. coach talking with Thad. I thought to myself that Thad was the third best coach in the photo.

Having played in the early-mid '70s I guess many of you would call me an old-timer. Some thoughts from that era:
Pat Mack has to be somewhere on the best of Elida. Almost unstoppable his senior year.
Alvin Phillips at Wayne Trace. An excellent ball-handler who could have played D1 college ball had he been 5 inches taller. Ron Treece was outstanding as well. He could do it all.
Tom Terry at LCC. As good a player as any to come out of the school. Had a full ride at the University of Tennessee as I recall. I don't know what happened there. I did not play against Joe Fisher but did see him play. At 6'*8" or so and built like a bull he was probably the best big man in NW Ohio at the time. Perhaps all of Ohio.
Someone mentioned John Gerdeman at DSJ. A VERY underrated player then and now. He doesn't get the attention his play earned. Not top three at DSJ but very good. I did not play against Jack Kill but witnessed two of his games vs LCC and Joe Fisher. What battles they had!
Kurt Vanderhorst at Celina. He was a great jump-shooter who also passed the ball and played great defense. Again not top 3 but I had to mention him.
At Wapak, Gordon Brookhart was another very good guard. Did it all at that position. Karl Windsor was a good post player at Wapak who went on to play D1 football. I took a charge from him and saw stars.
At Defiance I would put Kampe ahead of Hetz on the list. Greg was very skilled at ALL aspects of guard play. Hetz was just tall and DHS would lob the ball into him and he would turn around and lay it in. No skill in that. His OSU "career" pretty much proved that.
Must also mention Denny Shannon At Defiance. As athletic a player as DHS has ever had in basketball. He still held the high-jump record at Defiance as of several years ago.
Well, those are just a few thoughts concerning some of the old-timers.
