Are these "boomerang defections" similar to "helicopter parents?"
Or are they more closely tied to "head in the sandies?"

My gut tells me Davis, but I'm beginning to believe some of our RC posters
who are a little closer (or certainly seem) to the situation that we are...
Ever since JB took a powder (and with that heroin epidemic sweeping Ohio I wonder?)
our pipeline into Lima is a little weak down on Central & Vine....

This will be a telling moment if this all shakes out as many are predicting....
student-athletes who are going to LCC now suddenly find God and better academics
at Lima Sr........tell me again about Lima City Schools failing programs?
tsk, tsk, tsk...now wouldn't that be something?....the decision was made this weekend
but for the life of me I can't get any of my homies to turn state's evidence....

This might be one time, where "you didn't hear it first on the RC!".....RM

Yes u did from me..

If Q would get the job, I think that'd def cause a huge resurgence of enthusiasm in bball to go along with Coach Fell's new arrival and inaugural success in fb, but, how could a parent of any of the aforementioned speculative transfers, in good conscience, allow your child to leave LCC (or almost ANY OTHER area school) for LSH at this point in time?
I've always backed LSH and hope the small steps of improvement we have seen recently continue, academically and sports-wise, but, there's no way in hell I could make an argument for, nor defend, placing my kid into that system currently, especially if I'm already enrolled somewhere (anywhere) else.
For the kids' sakes, if he does get the job, I certainly hope these speculations do not come to fruition--although, if it would, we certainly know it'd be a huge shot in the arm for the RC! Lol ;)

"Head in the sandies"

I don't care who you are...that is some funny stuff...
I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.

If Q gwts the job do you really see him being around for more than 2 seasons? When X goes off to college it will be almost impossible for Q to coach HS and also see X play more than a couple times a year unless he is at an in state school....which I think highly unlikely. Q has probably seen every game X has ever played....dont see him giving that up to keep coaching HS

^^^^ completely agree. Short term vs Long Term.... I would take long term any day of the week. All the money that goes into all the clinics, certifications etc would be a loss to
Have a coach everyone knows is only staying for 2 years. I "heard" it was offered to Q but with stipulations. Not sure what the stipulations are but Q has not excepted it yet. Plot thickens.....

Stipulations?.....the ONLY stipulation that I can see Coach Q agreeing after reading his Facebook page over the
last several weeks (why?, I have no idea but I've followed it now for about 3-4 weeks) is that he might
attend "study hall" along with some of his student-athletes.....

He won't agree to bringing a whole posse of "athletic defectors" back to LSH....
He won't agree to having Davis as his assistant coach.....
He won't agree to having LeBron making an appearance at any LSH function as a fund-raising tool...

Those are some of the most obvious and yet, I wonder.....RM

Why does everyone think LSH acedemics are that bad?
THe education starts at home.
At least that is what i teach my kids.
There are lawyers, doctors, engineers, etc that come from LSH.
Its all about self discipline, structure and the will to want to be successful.
SO LSH cant prepare their students for college?
I find that hard to believe.

Soooo, offer him the job with stipulations that they know he won't agree to doing? He then turns down the job and they hire the guy they REALLY want without taking any flack? Well played, Lima School Board, well played indeed. BUT, is the board that smart? Time will tell.

I really think LSH is getting a raw end of the deal here when you Label the entire student body as a horrible institution of education. I am sure they have outstanding teachers. The majority of parents either doesn’t care, doesn’t know or are in a situation where they can’t be Mom and Dad like they should be. I would almost guarantee the students that left for LCC were concerned parents about their child. If all parents would be concerned and involved with their child, the school would see a tremendous rise in the academics. Very few students would be incapable of learning, yet the loafers, single parent homes, drugs and lack of commitment by the parents are the real cause of the downgrade of LSH. “It takes an entire village to raise a child”. If the education department was getting the same attention as the head basketball coach is getting on this thread you would see much better academics at LSH. I do think a sport can change an attitude of a school but the parents must give full support and encouragement for this to happen. Bottom line is that most kids need a father figure and they are not there, this is why I would favor Q for this job!

What happens to Bath with any of these scenario's? They won't be nearly as good next year, but they won't be back to the single 4-5 win teams that they had in the past.

the same thing that would have happened with Davis at the helm...most likely, a mediocre next couple seasons followed by some success. Most of the key 8th and 9th graders are putting in AAU time this summer.

Education starts at home. Not at school. So many people are quick to criticize looking in from the outside. There are a lot of great things that go on at LSH. Great dual enrollment opportunities that many students take advantage of every year. The senior classes rack up millions of dollars in scholarships every year also. My daughter graduated last year from LSH, played 2 sports and is on a full ACADEMIC scholarship for college. My son is a freshman their now playing 2 sports and doing well in the classroom. Students and teachers there work just as hard as anybody in the city.

"Lima Senior has announced that Quincey Simpson will be recommended to the board as new boys basketball coach on Thursday evening"

Recommended and hired aren't the same thing.....close...but not a done deal

Now we can talk during season on how much they are improved.
How much you can tell the difference.
And how much better their record is.
Also how all that Lima talent will be flooding to LSH!!!
But of course we will have haters still (Right bball_fanatic)

Mystery.... Grow up. To be a hater you have to hate. Since when is having an opinion about MY personal experiences with Q hating on him? So I can say the same about you and DougDavis huh? We will see ya in 2 years when they are looking for a new coach again. Do you wanna start the new thread in a couple years or do you want me too? But to the mature Q supporters... Best of luck to him!! I am sure he will do great!

'

2 years haha
He will be coach for a long time.
LSH is about to be a GREAT program.

And as far as opinion its cool but you took it to the extreme and brought up family members.
All my opinions about Davis were basketball related.
So i will leave it at that.

And coming straight from the New Head Coach of LSH
I will be coaching there WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAy more then 2 years.

Well, I'm just completely nonplussed. Actually, I just like to say nonplussed.
