We can also add Ada to the list of openings.....
In watching a couple of Ada's games this past season, this doesn't surprise me. The coach seemed to have a few strange moves or lack there of on several occasions. That being said, his daughter was one of the assistant coaches. Is he opening the position for her?

From what I remember of Ada, they were very young, lots of sophomores/ freshmen playing. Fairly skilled also. Coach may have decided it was time for some new blood.

Heard from pretty good sources SPENCERVILLE is searching for a new coach for next year but still looking for a firm confirmation.

Thought so.....no clue why my phone capitalized Spencerville. Stupid autocorrect.

I'm not sure what they're thinking over there right now with this whole thing to be honest.

Yes oh wise one seriously, it's not like anybody else is going to want this job.

One of the things stated at the board meeting I read in our "paper" was they objected to him putting biblical stuff on his Facebook page.....HIS Facebook page.

The administration over there is out there on this one.

Several players and parents from Spencerville, were at the board meeting to support the coach. Not sure I believe the reasoning for his contract not being renewed. How can the girls get better and build a program when you won't keep a coach. It apparently is only allowed to start slow in football (0-20) and keep your job.

We have went through a few girls coaches over bout the last 10 yrs. Pretty much all have left on their own. If we keep going through coaches we can't build a program. As for our football program, he had to fight to keep his job. He changed Offenses in his third year, and we went 8-2.

Allen East job has been posted.........surprised Coach Wehri is giving this up. Does he have another position lined up, maybe on the boys side somewhere? he is a yound, high energy guy who had the Allen east program going in the right direction. These past 2 years have been as successful as the mustangs have been in recent history on the boys or girls side.

AE is never satisfied.......this is a school system that should be putting a better product on the field
in a lot of sports....they might be a lot like us here at PG......

The wrestling program had a nice little run a few years ago also....

I am thinking Coach Wehri is looking at another HC job that could potentially open up at his alma mater.

I'd be curious, is this more of a girls basketball thing than boys? It's my observation that girls parents tend to be much more intrusive than boys parents. As a school, AD, board member, community, you have to keep a few things in mind when it relates to girls basketball coaching....1. the list of people who are even willing to coach girls hoops is very small, let alone their resume. 2. Many who willingly want to coach, normally have a direct interest, normally a daughter that plays. 3. People don't want to coach in programs that have constant change, constant parent involvement, constant kid problems. Schools need to sit down with their volleyball, soccer, basketball, track and softball coaches and get a plan on how they handle this explosion of "one-sport" athletes. At small schools, you can't have girls play 1 sport, especially your best athletes. It kills your girls sports programs. These kids play all the time in the jr. high, take playing time up, then quit their freshman or sophomore year and you're left with pieces of a program to put together...and constant coaching changes.

Coach Wehri's wife recently gave birth to twin boys. Perhaps that is why he stepped down?...
