Wayne Trace knocked the Titans out of the tournament many times in the early 90's. Welch boys were pretty good. Don't know about Archbold.

The Titans had their best teams when they had a bigger enrollment.
Many times in 90's ? O-G was in regionals in 95 & again in 96 so didn't lose to WT those years. Hard to believe "many times" & O-G knocked out Wayne Trace when OSU's Steve Hall was their big gun in 1990.

"Generally" speaking if a team draws from more student it should have more success. Are there anomalies....yes. But I think tradition plays a big part as well. OG boys and Bath girls are great examples. Young kids see a successful team and want to be part of it. They start working toward that at a young age. It draws the best athletes.

I'm not saying the size of the population that your pulling from has no bearing on how successful your public school program, but that it has a lesser effect than alot of other variables. Its not even in my top ten, there are alot of other factors that I feel have a direct effect on the success.

Ex. If you pick 5 numbers in the mega millions does that give you better odds (70+ numbers) than if you picked 5 numbers in the powerball(50+ numbers). More numbers does not always equal better odds straight up. There are alot of other factors.

That WT loss with Hall was in 1988. The four straight years WT beat OG the Raiders were a smaller D3 school while OG was a bigger D3 school. Obviously when you have divisions there are going to be teams at the top and bottom of each in enrollment. I think if we were comparing D1 numbers with D4 numbers then we would see an obvious advantage.

It is going to be tough to come up with ten things more important than the number of players to choose from. Let the bs begin

Coaching
Kids attitudes
Jr high program
athleticism
Practice
Community support
tradition
injuries
bball knowledge
facilities

Those just the few that came off the top of my head that I would rank higher, not in any particular order

I really don't claim to know anything about how the divisions are broke down, or anything else for that matter. like I said in an earlier post, generally speaking more students should(could is probably a better word). Here is how I see it. DISCLAIMER....I am not a sstatistician so who knows if the math is proper. Let's take Boys D2. The range for students is 213-369 to be D2. Lets say a school with 213 has 5 athletes who are "starter quality". So they get 1 starter for every 42 students. By that ratio, a school with 369 would have 8 "starter quality" players. So now your 6,7,8 players could be starting at the other school. Like I said, don't know if this makes sense or not. There will always be a bottom and top end. But there has to break offs somewhere. And there are many other factors.. many listed above.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner....
Your school has a better probability of finding 5 starters.

Numbers is the most important factor.............. Explains why Paulding dominates the NWC year after year......

While numbers have an influence they also can hurt...... Bigger numbers generally mean more sports...wrestling, swimming,...... That can divide the pool of students so you really don't have as big an advantage as it might seem

Could somebody explain to me the rationale behind having different divisions based upon enrollment numbers IF...as some of you seem too suggest...it doesn't make a difference?
I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.

Hey, how in the world did the OG vs Paulding thread turn into an argument about enrollment #s. Here's a REALLY crazy idea, the OG vs Paulding game was a really hard fought battle between two very determined teams. Both showed a lot of grit and heart. This time, OG was able to pull it out in the last part of the game. Which means, and let me spell it out for all of you that apparently aren't paying attention, the game is over. So should this tread be.

You're right some people are easily distracted. Trying to find reason for something they can't comprehend so they stray from the topic.
