My god could it get any worse, let's take inventory for a minute. 1. We have an administration that cancels the season July 1. Wonders why the league officials can't stand the sight of them that cost the district 13000$ 2.Then sells a bill of goods to the community how we need to change leagues to be more competitive, when in reality all you did was increase travel costs, and decrease gate income probably by half when you look at how those schools travel in the all mighty NWCC, and your results are still the same. Why travel 45 minutes to take a beat down when you can drive 20 minutes. 3. You put together a schedule like that with Cleveland East Tech on it, not to mention traveling all over the state. 4. All your athletes went to Kenton. Pretty much sums it up.

I'll respectfully disagree on a few points. First, the season had to be cancelled, there was no way HN could compete with what you had last year. Timing could have been better, but the decision was made. The timing caused the $13,000 penalty, again, a little organization and commitment one way or another would have solved this, but in today's world, no one makes decisions until they absolutely have to. I would only consider 1 away game as unreasonable from a travel stand point, and that's East Tech. I don't think there will be beatdowns, I think this will be a very competitive schedule now, and in the future for the Polar Bears.

To my knowledge and understanding Pete talked to the board in 05 or 06 and advised that they needed to look into getting out of the BVC and make a move to the NWCC then so ......

Now I could be wrong but im pretty sure that I was told that.

That's ok HH, but I'd guess the board has turned over, principals and AD's have turned over two or three times since 05 and 06. Vanlue should have done this 10 years ago, but no one has the courage to make a tough decision. Think of the Friday nights over the years where they knowingly put injured or less than varsity football players on the field?? What a risk they've been taking.

It never got that far, and it was his personal opinion cause he seen what was coming down the pike, and he held that close to the vest because he knew the old guard would've never went for it and those were the people he was drinking coffee with everyday and paying his salary at the time (taxpayers) that had kids go thru there as well. 06 was the last year they went to the playoffs, 05 the were AP champs with a BVC championship sprinkled in one of those two years.

So if Pete knew/ saw what was coming (and "agreed" to it) can this move really be that bad of a deal.

The timeframe isn't important. DSJ left because they were tired of losing... just like USV and Perry left the NWC. They felt they couldn't compete in football. There are parallels to the small BVC schools now.

I don't think this is a valid comparison at all.......DSJ leftover 30 years ago mainly because we were a small school in a bigger school conference......we were competitive in all other sports....something HN isn't in the BVC........I feel DSJ made a step up by joining the MAC.....in most instances the WBL is not heads above the MAC........whereas, the NWCC is one of the weakest in the state.....I really can't believe HN has fallen this low......we played them in football and basketball and they were the most hard nosed athletes that I ever saw.......they just wouldn't quit!!!!!

You spin it any way you want.... HN playing in a league where the largest school has 5 times as many boys.... DSJ back in the day, HN can't field a competitive football team... DSJ back in the day, HN heading to a league they will be able to compete in... DSJ back in the day. There are similarities...

Just going from what I've heard. My apologies if incorrect. I should have clarified my posted schedule wasn't a set in stone schedule.

Flounder... I think we're finding out more everyday that the NWCC isn't as bad as some of you folks want them to be. They've been getting stronger each year. Maybe not MAC strong... but respectable.

The nwcc is a newer league with smaller schools. They are trying to grow. I don't think it is a bad thing.

This is a good schedule for HN to get back on track. They could win 3 to 5 games.

That first game will be very telling for both schools. I am not convinced St. Wendelin can compete on a 10-game, OHSAA, varsity schedule.

Not being mean but no way I see 5 wins here. They will be lucky to win even one
