[slice slice baby]

Those of you that know me prolly ask the same question , but, I'm actually talking 'bout my sound system.....Been trying to piggyback my 12" woofer with my 8" for more bass (obviously) and when I do, the 8" burns out immediately. Any one know why?
I bought new fuses.... Got the "fast blow" as opposed to the "slow blow"<<<Talk about a double entendre conversation with tech support! Lol

Anyway, anyone have any insight, please, as tech support couldn't finish the job.

How do you have them wired? Do you have the 8 wired to system and 12 after it? If so would think 8 requires less power and 12 is pulling too many amps thus causing the blow. Does your receiver have enough amps on that single output to power both speakers in series? May want the 12 first in series if it isnt already.

This sounds like it's a car system so I'm not much help there.

I'm guessing you've got enough power from your amp to push it through that much sub, right? I would think Customer Service would have caught that.

I do have my 12" from the receiver, then my 8" off of it....and it's my home theatre system, mo-- No need for a car stereo... Lol

As far as if I have enough power, I'm not sure..... What would be the "equation" I'd need to know to know that?

I've talked with both Sony and monoprice without results from either.

I'll get my specs together and post them as far as my receiver and my woofers to see if that's of any help......I've also read quite a bit thru searching on the Internet, but, the things they've spoken about are definitely Greek to a lay person like me! I've never done two woofers at the same time before.

Ya get us some part numbers and specs and we could prob give you a better idea once we know what we have to deal w/as far as outputs and whatnot.

Okay, so what we've got so far is: You're trying to push two subs off of one jack, then daisy chained from the 13" to the 8". So you're 13" has an output jack on it, right?
And are they powered subs? That's a biggy.

It's a 7.1 3D HTR system..... I woulda spent the extra $100-150 for the 7.2 system, but in believing I could piggyback the 8"one off of the 12" for basically pennies (cost of the connector ) I opted not to.
Both subs are powered.
If this doesn't end up working, definitely no big deal as either of these two are totally awesome in delivering house shaking, rumbling base (you can feel it from your feet all the way through your chest!! Lol) during movie or music playback....but, I do love my base! Lol

My guess here is that since they're powered amps, your 12" is sending too much wattage to your 8". Switching won't help much as it will reduce the wattage your 12" is getting, meaning less sound.
Sound systems really aren't my thing though. I have always left that to the other guys in the bands I've been in, especially since some of them are very good at it. I've learned a lot over the years but not enough for my word to be the end all be all.

What I would do is get a Y adapter (monoprice is great for this). Hook that into your receiver (amp) and run your cables from the y-adapter separately to your subs instead of daisy chaining them. That should take care of it.

Before doing that though, does the 8" work without the 12" hooked up at all? If not, then the problem is the 8" sub.

You'll want to ignore the colors. Make sure you're plugging in both white cables into the y-adapter that you plug into the white jack on the amp. Same with red. I think it will work but no promises.

Btw, yes, my 8" works fine on its own. Made sure of that before I ordered my fuse replacements.

Your receiver has nothing to do with powering the subs. The sub-out jack on the receiver is no different than the line out of your dvd player. No wattage...just the audio signal. Mo is right about the Y....but if yoir subs are close together run one sub cable to them....then add the y...and use 2 short cables to connect to the subs. Two long cables split at the receiver and run together can create interfrrence
