I really am curious to see who gets this job...Wapak has the potential to do some big things, but I think it really relies on who is leading them to see how big they can go. Any word on who is being interviewed?

Patrick Henry's Bill Inselmann- his record speaks for itself. I believe he is 200-62 with a state title.
Wayne Trace's Bill Speller- state runner up last year. Career record is ok, .550 win percentage. Runs a 5 wide throw it every down. Believe he is in his early 40s.
Bucyrus old coach Jake Bruner- young guy with 3 young children. 2nd winningest coach in school history, but career record is just ok.
IMO with our returning roster, we are built to win right now. That would make Inselmann the most logic choice. Be interesting, hiring committee member Ron Mertz said in paper he is looking for a long term candidate. How much does Inselmann have in the tank?
Now obviously we don't know all the names who applied or who our leading guys are as of right now, but this list is solid but not home run material. With our resources, we should have been very aggressive and went after some big names and not taken no for an answer. Heck for Frye, we created jobs for him and gave Bo a job.
So who would be home run?
Kevin Fell- some discussion here, but I'm told he was a viewed as a short term solution. Fell would have taken the job but with the familiarity already with Wapak, he wasn't interested in driving 3 hrs and jumping thru hoops multiple times.
Mike Fell- this was my wild card name I mentioned last weekend. Also said if offered he would take the job. Didn't really want to go thru the whole interview process. Asking a lot of questions about talent and coaches in the systems, jobs open in the systems, and who the competition would be.
Todd Schulte- also some discussion, but didn't want to move his family.
Ken Schriner- applied but withdrew. IMO he wanted to fly under the radar but his name got out quickly and he withdrew before upsetting the apple cart
I would have went after these guys. Stroke the ego, whatever it takes. Take a Wintzer orange truck filed with cash and get it done! Lol

And the old trump card. Frye's teaching job if they choose to renew it. Director of virtual online academy or whatever it's called. Administrative job. $60,000/yr to do nothing. Frye's posted classroom hrs last year where only 15 hrs/ wk.

How is Inselman not a home run and Kevin fell, mike fell and Ken Schriner are?
Inselman more wins and post season appearances than all 3 and has more regional final appearances, state semi appearances, state titles than all combined 3 combined.
Compare resumes and really inselman is significantly better. If Wapak could get 3-5 out of Inselman expect big things.
I think Mike Fell is a really good coach but what is his biggest accomplishment? I think it was his one regional final win in 20 years or goin 500 this year at Lima senior.
Again, I think fell is a great coach but I don't think he is in same category as Inselman when talking Homerun Hire.

Inselman is significantly better than the Fells and Schriner? Sure about that?
OG was the perpetual doormat of the WBL before Coach Schriner turned things around. They averaged about one win a year for a decade with zero playoff appearances or WBL titles in the history of the school. Before Schriner's first season of 6-4, they were 0-10 and hadn't even had a winning record in over a decade. Now, 7-3 is considered an average year and everyone takes it for granted. Heck, they went 6-4 this year and were considered "down" after last year's 10-0 team.
Maybe Teddy can do a better job with stats, but I think the Titans went to the playoffs 8 years in a row and are in double digit appearances despite being the smallest school in the WBL. Patrick Henry is a great football program but they don't have to deal with teams like Kenton or some of the athletes that OG has faced and defeated in the last decade, including the Mauk brothers and Micah Hyde of Fostoria - who is wearing green and yellow on Sundays.
OG also have a very good soccer program pulling athletes as well, something that MAC schools don't have to deal with and a big part of their unquestioned supremacy in Ohio small school football. Schriner has also had very high turnover on his coaching staff which is something many good programs haven't had to deal with.
OG's playoff losses are to an impressive list of storied programs including Germantown Valleyview, Bishop Watterson, Marion Pleasant, Genoa, Huron, Chagrin Falls and Bishop Hartley. Their only loss to a team that I considered good and not great was Archbold,
True, the Titans only made it to the state semis, and don't have a state title or runner-up finish. But considering their regular season schedule and playoff path is light years tougher than Patrick Henry's is, I'd say Schriners resume is at least comparable to Inselman's.

If Coach Miller from Covington applied go ahead and offer to him now! He was a finalist for the Centerville job and has done a great job building Covington into a great program. I believe he runs a triple option offense with Covington, which would be a change but that could be a good offense with a great (smart) athlete at QB.
