Blue and Gold,

Flounder and Lima Jock both admitted to drinking the wine coolers.......

There might be a bit of "gossip" that happens at the corner, and there might be one or two people that like to hide behind a "screen" name. However, the fact remains that there is a lot of smoke coming from this situation. And you know the saying.

Back to the facts. Take a look at the number of girls that have given up the game before exhausting their eligibility. If it were just a handful that left and claimed they just got tired of the bs, I could understand that some need to get a little tougher. However, I have personally talked to many girls that claim the same mistreatment.

It was time to make the change. This program has lost too many girls. I am as competitive as anybody. I HATE to lose. But it is time this program moves in another direction that places a little more importance on the well being of the players.

I think Floundy and Weakly are fine Amaricuns. I would share Wine Coolers with them anytime. Slicer: I'm comfortable with my feminine side, why else would I let others talk about my strap. LJ

The reason people like this site is the fact that it is a place to gossip without having to own your comments. It is easy to make comments without having any 1st hand information about the situation. It wouldn't be nearly as fun to read if it were all true, right?
I've been thinking through the night trying to figure out how ppl are not "owning" their comments..I've seen several parents here giving their testimonials, and likewise, supporters for Coach Patton. I'm not sure how much more "1st hand" you can get....??
As far as "true", I s'pose that's subjective to each's own personal experience~~but, we always do try to be fun here at the RC! :)

Almost lost respect for LJ after seeing he drinks wine coolers….but I figure that’s a logical step after all that communion wine.

Does W-G now have to redo the team picture and the programs?

Kind of confused…if the kids that quit didn't come back (except the coaches daughter) why was Mrs. Coach added to the team? Just for her daughter to play?

Lots of teams change personnel as the season goes on, only one shot on the team pic. LOL!!! Anyway, I truly hope that after the dust settles and everyone clears their heads, this team can just move forward. High school sports shouldn't be like this. I hope the kids that quit do come back. This particular season can be salvaged. After this season, then everyone can review their options and go from there.

That's true. Those kids that quit can't get that time back if they stay out the whole season. The first consideration ought to be letting these girls play the game they can only play for four years of their life.

I thought that a new Coach Patton will be named the head coach after the season is over. Most of these girls played for her in the middle school and I think [from what I heard] enjoyed it. If so, maybe the team can start battling other schools instead of each other. Especially the freshmen center. She needs to return, but I heard she has not done so yet. That family [and others] had some legit issues, but its now time to move on and make the best of it. LJ

Yep. She is even tempered and knows how to coach. They could do way worse than her.

If you name the other Patton coach how does that help? Those girls that quit and forced the hand to remove the previous coach are still in an awkward situation. Also, don't let the record fool you into thinking that she is a good coach. She is not that good, I have been witness.

Middle school is a lot different (easier) to coach. Actually coaching in middle school can hamper development - ie, a lot of kids learn to press bad teams or run zones but don't learn how to do anything in the half court. Also, one good player can make a huge difference in middle school. Very rarely have I seen middle school coaches w/o high school experience succeed at the high school level. It's a shocker for a lot of freshman (and their parents) who dominate in middle school but don't get stronger or better in high school. They usually relied on that one player too much and others didn't develop. I know nothing about this particular coach but those are my general obervations.

But hopefully something will be done to get kids out playing who want to compete at WG regardless of who is blowing the whistle.

My motto is control what you can control. Another is you are not going to like your boss someday. Conclusion: I would play for me and my friends on the team and make the best of it. Happens all the time. Whether she is a good coach or bad one is not very important. Fair treatment would be the only requirement. That doesn't mean popsicles at the end of every practice, just the willingness to be shown to be worthwhile after being "COACHED" and not liking what I am hearing. Bottom line, 4 years of eligibility. DON'T WASTE THEM. LJ

She only coached this years Freshman class in 7th grade, and somebody else coached the team in 8th. That was the first year that Patton did not have a parent coach and the TEAM thrived. They were undefeated their 8th grade year, not 7th.

She never coached the sophomores.
