Seems the dust has settled and the Tigers will be taking on, "resigned" coach, Ted Patton's wife as volunteer assistant coach for the rest of this year,--with daughter in tow.......

With the ppd game of the Tigers this last week, they should be able to pick up without missing a beat, and young Ms. Patton not missing a game with her short departure and return.

One has to wonder if this will lead to any further coaching opportunities in the future for Mrs. Patton....??

I'm sure everyone is pleased as punch now.

I have a hard time seeing this working out well. I wonder if the team will lose any more players?

Janet is very level headed and was a fine athlete in her day. She will do just fine.

I want to make clear that I was in no way questioning Mrs./Coach Patton's abilities as a coach.
My post was made in anticipation of what the interactions amongst all involved will be like when in practice, and particularly game situations (assuming Ted will not be missing his daughter's games) considering recent events and all the discord....... Awkward.

For this particular team at this time, this seems like a good compromise. You've got familiarity with the program without blowing things up. Are the kids who quit still not on the team, or did they come back. Could be a salvageable situation, and at the end of the day, that's what's important.

Do they already have an assistant? Who is coaching the team now? Does Ms. Patton have all of the credentials - pupil activity permit, CPR, etc.? Maybe the former coach will focus his energy on the officials now like the rest of the fun people. Awkward situation there - feel bad for everybody involved.

The asst was Doug Foley. He was promoted to head coach at Monday mornings special school board meeting. Morgan Rogers who used to be the JV coach, was promoted to Asst.

Mrs Patton was a Jr. High Coach last year and is a teacher at WG. I don't know this to be fact, but I'm guessing she has everything she needs.

My understanding is that the officials didn't like Mr. Patton as a coach, not sure how he will be as a mere "spectator."

If the JV coach is promoted to Varsity assistant, why do you need a volunteer varsity assistant? Is this to get the daughter back on the team and save their season? If they wanted a volunteer assistant, you would think there would be someone else other than the wife of the coach they just asked to resign. Makes no sense to me.

You would have to believe that the former coach will be in the ear of the volunteer assistant. I see no possible way that this ends well. It seems they made a bad situation worse.
