Said it a couple days ago, that the first two names I heard from within were Fell and Shriner. Whether either actually get it or apply I don't know, but I got a text from someone within and said keep an eye on those two because of interest from both parties.

Coach Fell had said several times he thought he could win a state title at Wapak instead of a D1 school. The times I had talked to him he was happy with being at Wapak but because of other things he left. It wouldn't surprise me to see him interested in the job. It seems he has put in for jobs in this area and his brother is coaching right up the road. Maybe he comes back and takes care of some unfinished business. His most famous quote after beating St. Marys during our WBL title season ITS FUN TO BEAT ST. MARYS.

Funny you mention that, because I talked to some of the assistants that year, and they said he got more joy out of beating Frye than beating St. Mary's. They said he absolutely despises the guy. Also I know in the locker room before the Piqua game from having a nephew on the team at the time, that Fell told them whoever wins this game was going to win State. Long behold Piqua won and then won State.

A lot of good previous coaches (Kellermeyer, Dobie, and Erb) didn't stay and coach under Frye and even more good coaches (Duncan, Dickey, Askins, and Wilson) stepped away after one year. Thats quite a bit of attrition from a group of quality coaches that do things the right away, just as they did in 2006. And I wouldn't exactly say that Sammons and Law are Frye guys.
Yes I was stating the frye guys were Dunlap (QB coach and former QB for him at sm) and Patterson. Kellermeyer is now on the elida coaching staff. I was saying law, sammens, Copeland, and schnarre were wapak guys. I don't think any of those coaches are bad coaches I think the problem lied with Zimmer. Very good assistant coaches if you ask me, had law not quit this team would have probably been put on his lap. Would be a good head coach I believe too.

Your probably right if Law had not quit he probably would be the head coach, but i'm not sure now he even get's a interview if he did apply.

How many returning starters do we have coming back on offense and defense. I wasn't sure of the numbers but know we have some really key members returning.

Just passing along the info, I mean they both can't get it either way.

In Schulte's case though it would be wise. The retirement difference between a public and private school is a big difference, which is another reason I see him as interested.

Logistically it may make sense for Schulte, but I don't see much upside for Schriner to go after this job.

Coach Schulte's teaching wages are paid through delphos jefferson schools.

Brian Colatruglio of Tiffian Columbian and former head coach at Hopewell Loudon who also was offered the head coaching job 7 years ago was contacted, but he is happy where he is at. Along with former Redskin Head Coach Kevin Fell was contacted as well, but is also happy at Elyria. Lastly, Schulte was also contacted by the administration, but does not want to move his kids. Lastly, Bill Inselmann who retired from Patrick Henry along with Ken Shriner of OG have applied and will be interviewed.

Bill Inselmann or Ken Shriner would be knock out hires. Both have taken average at best programs and made them powers. Inselmann has been to the playoffs last 10 years win a state championship and been to 2 or 3 semi final appearances. Shriner also has done well with many WBL championships and multiple playoff appearances.

How old is Coach Inselman? Why would he retire from Patrick Henry and then apply at Wapakoneta?

Read that he is 52 and teaches at Bryan. Could give ya 10 or more years.
