For the 13th consecutive year the
"Flounder & Rocketman's" Girls HS Rankings return.....by my recollection this is the longest-running
collaboration going when doing a state-wide ranking of girl's teams.....well, 2nd longest if you care to count the
AP :bag: version that appears sometimes in January.......Flounder and I have been following this game a
long time and we are considered the pre-eminent source in the entire state of Ohio....... there might be others who
might want to lay claim to this, but our loyal followers
KNOW the truth.........today marks our return to the hardwood and we will be bringing you the best rankings with
our great insight and input that has set us apart for all these years..............I'm sure that Flound will be along
later tonight or possibly tomorrow after his wife and daughter have left for the day shopping........ we also know
that a few others have had their rankings out for a week or so, so technically we aren't the
first rankings of the year to make the news.........but one
thing I do KNOW..........we have the best rankings and again at the end of the year when you page back through all the
forums you'll find that for the 13th consecutive year that the "Flounder & Rocketman's" Rankings will again top the
list.........WE KNOW GIRLS BASKETBALL!......RM We start this off in Division I where the reigning state champs are comfortably perched at the top.......the Firebirds bring back a lot of firepower and it will take some kind of team to dethrone them this year........Cincy Princeton has been one of the darlings the last few years and maybe
this is their year...........in Division II it looks like it will take a while for Hathaway Brown to jell, so for now I've kept them out of the rankings and one of the few times that I can ever remember that a defending champion isn't in our rankings..........Clyde, W. Holmes, Alter, and Rogers will be the
heavyweights in this division and Alter has gotten it done in the past......
In Division III the girls from Africentric have their sights set on a championship.........it certainly won't be a cakewalk but they look like as big a favorite as I can find in the 4 divisions........and finally in D4, and one in which Flounder and I annually excel it looks like a 3 or 4 horse race right now.........Fort Loramie, Convoy Crestview, Marion Local, New Knoxville, and Minster from our portion of the state will be very formidable...
Lake Ridge Academy is a team that has been off the charts for awhile as they ran into a slight problem with the OHSAA but look to be out for revenge this season.......never count out Berlin Hiland and last year Newark Catholic had a very nice run..........so get your "lap bands" cinched up for the ride that is to come.........
and when all the dust has settled come the middle of March, just remember where you heard it from...........thanks RM

My apologies to my partner Rocketman as I completely passed over the Girls Basketball Forum and the latest edition of our rankings :shrug2: .....my version has been on the desk just waiting to be posted.....I have been a tad bit busy following the Jays and their quest for another football championship, but am always a bit excited when the hoops season starts....I know it promises to be another exciting season in girls hoops........

One thing comes to mind as I look over my list of rankings......quite a few newcomers in the top ten in each division....and also....some usual mainstays are absent.....the one that really comes to mind is Ottoville....when was the last time they were not in the pre season top 10......Ottoville has always been ranked high...especially by other polls, but they still have not brought home that coveted first place trophy......unlike Hathaway Brown, who seldom is ranked number 1, but has proudly hoisted the championship trophy in the past.....this season will prove to be another great season for all to get out and view the girls in your area........it really is exciting to watch as the lady ballers do put on quite a show.....

Well, here is Flounders first edition of the 2013-2014 girls high school rankings for Ohio.....

Sorry, I'll chime in. It's really too bad that very few have the same passion about girls basketball than boys. Title IX evened the playing field for opportunity, but in the court of public opinion, girls sports are still lagging way, way behind. Doesn't look like NW Ohio is getting much love from the pollsters??

Looks good to me flounder!
D4 looks well.

I saw Dave Kleman sang the praises of the Crestview Lady Knights recently…..thought they would be the top D4 team in the area and NW Ohio by seasons end. Time will tell. Things look good for Crestview with the boys too!! Should be a fun year in Convoy.

LOOKS GREAT.

I will go out on the limb and pick the Div. III & Div. IV champs right now. Mark it down: Versailles & Ft. Loramie. I am hoping those Minster Wildcats will make a liar out of me and if they do that's ok!

You may want to include Zanesville Maysville to you D-II list. They are currently 10-0 and destroyed one of you top 10 (Warsaw River View) by 28 points. They have a current regular season winning streak of 31 straight. Their last regular season loss was in November of 2012. The lost in the District Finals to West Holmes by 10 points last season.
