Or in some cases scholarship money from donors....

Open enrollment doesn't quit have the same 'lure' appeal as thousands of dollars in voucher money. People feel like they're getting something special.

Whos getting scholarship money that you know of?

HAHAHA yes, there are a bunch of people at LCC willing to pay thousands of dollars so that Joe Somebody can play basketball/football at LCC. What a joke.

As for your second statement, it literally makes no sense unless you concede that LCC does provide a greater benefit to a student than a public school (which you have already contended that it does not).

Yes he was interviewed about it before the LCC vs LSH Game last year. He has also posted about it on Facebook. I have also heard him talk about it before in person.

Isaiah (his older son) was going to be a junior (or senior? I'm not positive) when he decided to move Xavier (still in Jr. High at the time). He felt it wouldn't be fair to move Isaiah to a new school so late in his education. Whether you disagree with his reasoning or not is up to you (although, frankly, it is irrelevant). Again, Coach Q is only one of many parents who I've heard use this same logic (the game of life is bigger than the game of basketball/football/etc.), Coach Q was just a prominent example of a clear supporter of LSH Sports that opted for LCC.

I could also ask you the inverse of your question: If it was about sports, why wouldn't he send both sons to LCC?

Rocketman, I know you're just trying to stir the LCC pot again for page views, but as the owner/operator of this site you should be above speculation/allegation of specific parents and kids (just my opinion, of course)
The inverse of the question doesn't matter because in his quote he said it wasn't about sports. The enviroment and academics at LCC did not become better than that at LSH when the younger son got to Jr. High

It's a joke that there are scholarships available to students who need them in a private school? I'm pretty sure this is done at private schools everywhere.

I would assume they want to get away from lima sr in general. Why doesn't anyone feel the need to point out the kids leaving sr high for elida, shawnee, bath? Hell, even spencerville? Anytime a kid transfers schools, its only against the rules if its LCC. Hey, that good back from crestview, where's he from? If I'm not mistaken, hes from/ lives in van wert....who cares right? If you disagree with vouchers, thats your right....but dont disagree with it because of sports.

How exactly is a Crestview student being from Van Wert odd? :shrug2:

These scholarships have been going on way before vouchers. I don't believe they give them out to Just anyone. One way to get assistance is through academic scholarships and the other, from my understanding is through a work type program such as odd jobs during summers etc. Lets say I'm wrong and any voucher could get into lcc for "free"....why are there many more going to Other schools?

I know of a family that goes to St Johns and lives in Elida district there is nothing odd at all. People just want the pot to be stirred a bit

How many basketball players were in city schools at LCC as opposed to Elida or Bath. That's the argument, I think everyone agrees it is fine to go to whatever school you want on you're own terms. And sure Elida has a player or two and so does Bath but LCC has litetaly double digit kids who were once in city schools in their basketball program. Most not all were recruited in some form or another ask the players themselves, great kids I have the pleasure to know many PERSONALLY. By the way how exactly does Xavier's dad have the keys to LCC gyms to charge kids?

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying here. Are you suggesting the academic environment at LCC is not better than that at LSH?

It's a joke that you think there are people in the LCC community hand picking kids and paying thousands of dollars so that they can watch them play basketball for two years. Who has the money or the obsession to do something like that?

...You can't continuously say that you personally know kids who were recruited and openly admit to it, but not give any names or specifics WHATSOEVER.

I don't know what you're talking about when you refer to Coach Q charging kids?
I also don't know if he has keys to the gym, but, if he does, why would that be a concern? There are plenty of people in the community who have keys to the gym/weight room/locker room/school in general.

No, but it's especially not when you are talking about a Crestview student from Van Wert. Hell, I could hit Van Wert with a rock from Convoy. It's no farther from Landeck to Delphos than it is from Convoy to Van Wert. Now, if you were saying a Crestview student from Ft. Wayne or from Delphos, you might have more of a case.

I've worked out in LCC's newer gym quite a few times actually.

Ha. If dsj had a good running back from elida, youd throw a fit. And the distance between the two is almost the same....nearly 10 miles. That said, I don't really care, I was just trying to make a point.

The negative views of LCC is a cumulative effect of many factors (whether fully justified or purely misunderstood)-- only magnified on an almost weekly basis (year after year) by a highly visible and vocal "representative" of the school, which only continues to erode many ppl's opinion of the school and its elective community-- unfortunately. :(

Open enrollment, recruiting there is not much difference and LCC is not the only school around to get kids to transfer in. Elida, Bath, and Shawnee have at some point gotten a kid here or there that was a LSH kid at one time. Kenton gets several kids every year from different school districts. It happens every where and we will have to live with it until the OHSAA quits covering it up and puts a stop to it. The OHSAA allowing this to happen across the entire state of Ohio is a diservice to all the kids and school districts that do things right and compete with their local hometown kids.

In the event a "hometown" has more than one high school, is it fair to say you are suggesting that "local hometown kids" means kids that have gone to that school from kindergarten (as opposed to just kids who are literally from the local home town)?
