I don't know anyone from Arlington that is wishing LB to leave the league...if so, I don't know who they are. As I said earlier, you don't beat them often historically, but oh, when you do! From what I see/hear, it appears that LB will be down in both boys/girls sports in the next few years. I love the Arlington vs. LB rivalry in hoops - it's the best thing around here in terms of a rivalry - probably not in football since it's been so 1 sided, but certainly in basketball if I had to guess. Here's to what I hope is a solid effort/game this Friday night...

While LB CAN be a nice gate, sometimes it isn't. There is a fracturing of support for some of the BVC schools. People just aren't going to come support a losing program. I've been to many local games this year and the crowds are poor. Potentially lopsided games keep people away (along with the weather). Parents of the players are always going to go, but it's the others that you need to make or break your gate.

Come to the Vanlue or CR games this year...gates are pathetic. Agree w/ Common Sense that this will not change and then you get bad weather and it's the perfect storm. Arlington home games this year were PG, Arcadia, Vanlue, CR and Van Buren. Not exactly show stoppers.

I agree, has anyone ever considered that maybe starting with Vanlue (no offense intended) that they need to leave; and maybe the disparity wouldn't be as great. Why thin the league by removing the top teams, ask McComb, Van Buren and Leipsic folks; I bet the majority of them not all, would choose Vanlue to leave before Liberty. What type of league do you what to end up with? :coffee:
Exactly. I guess the TAAC or the NWCC if you follow the logic.

there is already enough teams in the BVC to start there own competitive league. Vanlue, Arcadia, NB, Cory, Riverdale for starters

I am REALLY hoping that the Eagles win this one, but for a selfish reason. :)

I would much rather play an eastern Ohio team at Findlay West (as Postplayer refers to Eagle Nation). Much rather than playing week 11 in Columbia Station or West Salem. 2 minute drive vs. a 2+ hours drive........ GO EAGLES!!!!!

Regardless if Arlington wins or loses.......I hope their week 11 matchup will not be against another BVC team. Been there, done that. Hope'n for FSJ, Hicksville, Calvert, Edon....etc. Wonder if D7 and D5 will both play the same night on week 11? I'm guessing yes?

Total Defense:
Liberty-Benton 104 yards/game - 1st in league
Arlington 147 yards/game - 2nd in league

Fumbles lost (season)
Arlington 4 (fewest in league)
Liberty-Benton 8

I'll go out on a limb and say LB puts the clamps on Rettig, and that will be the difference in the game.

Both can run the ball. Deeper into the stats:

Rettig (Arl) scores 20.5% of his carries
Combs (LB) scores 21.4% of his carries

More interesting:
Babb (Arl) scores 27.3% of his carries
Bell (LB) scores 40% of his carries

Arlingtons run game needs to be effective enough to complement the PA passes. IF LB doesnt have to respect PA and Arlington has to resort to drop back passing, it could be another McComb performance as the Arlington WRs lack speed IMO

I would agree with that based on what I have seen by both teams this year. If Arlington becomes one dimensional I am not sure they can win. LB will have to be able to move the ball on a tough Arlington D.

Oh and by the way Arlington, watch out for the fumblerooski play with #52. If he gets the ball just get out of the way, you cant stop that train from reaching the station! :-)

I heard they ran this up 4 or 5 touchdowns against a beat up VB team. I don't think LB should boast too much running trick plays if they were up that much.

It's a cliché, but this game will be won in the trenches. Neither team throws the ball real well, so whoever can establish their running games, and/ or a big turnover here or there will decide this one.

This game has BVC title implications, but little else, both teams are in the playoffs, just a matter of juggling spots.

That would be surprising if they did, we were watching the barn burner with McComb/Leipsic. Does anybody know what the score was and what qtr. it was in?

LB does not need to go anywhere! IMO the top of the league in the BVC is better than the NWC, so not sure how that would help LB. I am hearing there may be an interesting sub plot forming for this game .
But the bottom of the BVC is so bad. And some can't field JV or 7th grade teams in a lot of sports. I don't think adding small schools like NB and Riverdale helps. Better for LB in all sports to go to another league but maybe not better for the BVC. Maybe their cross country kids would get to run for a league championship. As far as gates are concerned, I went to the LB v. McComb volleyball game and the McComb fans tripled the LB fans.
I did see where LB picked up BG in football which is no powerhouse (3-6 this year) but better than playing another D7 or Canadian school.
My prediction - Combs runs over Arlington.
