He will leave LCC in a worse place than where they started, No league, No talent and no state titles. Plus a whole lot of future travel to find games. Just like Bath and Grove, nobody will praise him once that he is gone.

I thought Grove won a state title under Cooper. I am pretty sure that Bath has not been nearly as good as when Coach Cooper was there. I am sure all of those program enjoyed winning while he was their coach. Why so bitter Caldwell

Didn't LCC play Delphos St Johns week 2. I think this is the third year in a row that the Thunderbirds beat the Blue Jays.
Didn't LCC's last two seasons end with a loss to Liberty Benton ? Whats your point ?

NW,
this is NOT what Coach Cooper, the administration, the players, or the fans thought on how this season is playing out.......yes, we all know that he's not going to be at LCC forever.....However no one saw this implosion of his team 3 weeks ago........the Tbirds were picked #1 in the pre-season JJ Huddle poll if I'm not mistaken......with the 2 losses already their window is closing fast. .....and with each game the pressure on Cooper will mount......and we all know what happens next :whistling: .........a call this week, a call next week or whenever
could set off the fuse that could relegate him to Coach Chris Adams or Woody Hayes status..........And yes I do root against the Tbirds for exactly that reason.....for that matter even in basketball because of your current "lit fuse in-waiting".......the pressure to win can't be that great at Lima Central Catholic that it would cause a person to act like they do on the sidelines..........and Coach Seggerson was a class act, say no more......and I respected him then as a coach and respect him now..........so it's not like I have a deep-seated hatred for LCC......thank zooooom

I'm sorry, but I died laughing yesterday, when I watched The Waterboy and saw Jerry Cooper on it. The appearance, speaking, and mannerisms are just too much of a spot on match to Jerry Cooper.

Hasn't Delphos St john's ended each of the last 2 seasons with playoff losses also. Point is every team but the six state champions lose their last game. Even you can figure that simple concept out. And regular season is just that regular season. However the Jays have lost to the T-Birds three years in a row and that is a fact not opinion.

Rocketman : You clearly know nothing about H.S. football nor the type of kids that attend LCC. The ratings like JJ Huddle and others are totally meaningless. I personally heard Coach Cooper after week one tell the media that LCC was over rated and not nearly the team that everyone had them made out to be. Rocketman you and other idiots like you can't have it both ways. If LCC wins it is only because they recruited talent. If they lose it is because they were over rated or are under achieving. Do you know how ridiculous you sound when you make these negative comments about kids and their Coach. You absolutely are clueless about the character of the kids at LCC. I can't image any self respecting adult having the time or energy to spend their whole existance being so negative toward a single school or coach. Get an adult life. Tip: Find something positive to spend your time on. Your whole life (or you) can not be so small that their is nothing positive in your life to focus on. LCC and their coaches deserve better.

They are both football games, so I don't see how you are trying to justify LCC beating DSJ 3 times as a row as somehow bashing a DSJ poster who is giving their inference, and somebody claiming LB beating LCC 2 years in a row is somehow just "not up to par" with your level of bashing. :shrug2:

What about the character that threw an absolute cry baby fit when the T-Birds got 3 penalties called on them against Grove. He went over and kicked a orange cone so everyone could see including Grove fans on the visitor bleachers. What kind of example is that? Good Character? Please lets remember who we are talking about here. The coach. Not the kids.

....or it could just be both. :coffee:

As far as Cooper's comments about the team.....you hear that verbatim of speaking from half the coaches at the beginning of a season, especially from good teams. It's an ego check psychological routine, so player's realize they are not as good as they think they are to keep them in a competitive mindset and push harder despite recent or routine success.

Now if you turn back to his outburst on the radio last year(after the season was over), it was just the opposite when he was claiming how he couldn't wait to show everybody in the NWC just how good they were for kicking them out of the NWC, and basically insinuated that he would be running up the score on everybody in the NWC. That's the reality of the matter.

He's about as good at deflecting reality, as the Tea Party on Capitol Hill.

DSJ wasn't #1 everywhere, picked as a 30 point favorite, etc. in those games though. I'm pretty sure that's his point. Cooper's teams can win all they want in the regular season, but when it really counts, they choke.

No bitterness, just have more respect for coaches like (Ray E. and Dick K.) they both stayed around through the thin talent years. From what I hear, Cooper leaves as soon as the talent run low. Or when he burns to many bridges, which is very close. From what I hear!!!

Been a slow year so far on rocketcorner so rocketman does what he does best; stir the lcc pot. The only thing I will say is that I don't think too many "lcc people" were expecting the birds to be nearly as good this year. They have no depth, the line is young and inexperienced, west hasn't played a down and they lost their best lineman in week 1. I was actually kind of happy to see them take a couple losses to see how these kids respond to some adversity.

Perhaps you, but most of what I heard was about how they were going to be better with all the skill players. Either way, all my points are the same.

Agreed. The birds have a few very good athletes but overall are pretty thin this year, especially on the line. They've also had a few injuries on the line and their best player hasn't played, which hasn't helped.

I don't think too many people "expected" to be 3-2, but I also don't think too many people are surprised. If they went 3-7, nobody would be calling for Coop's head, they would just think it sucks for the seniors.

Coop will likely leave within the next few years, and he certainly won't be fired or "forced to resign." They didn't hire a "coach-in-waiting," to sit behind cooper for 5 years. He's very close to being able to retire, so when he leaves I expect it will be to retire, not to go to a different school. However, if he does leave for greener pastures, you won't find LCC people "hating" him like Grove people have. It's been the best 10 or so year stretch in LCC football, and he has been a HUGE part of the turn around

Clutch nailed it when he said rocketman was just stirring the LCC pot to get page views because his site has lacked chatter this year. He knows he gets the "hits" when LCC/private schools become the topic.
