Or two or three new members. HN will be gone and who ever is next to fold the football tent up.

Two year gives them time to make a strong push at a combo/ triple play of Ada, bluffton, grove, P Henry. I think those would be on the primary target list seeing how they already went east and north. Have to give the west side of the league a bone. Separately these 4 would problably not be intested in being the 14th member but they might give it more thought if they know they can move togeather.

Just my opinion .

PH isn't going to happen. The other two you listed would fit nicely, I would think, but then again maybe not now that LCC has exited stage left from the NWC.

The BVC will have a hard time convincing Ada and Bluffton to join them. It's all about numbers. There are way to many small schools that are borderline not even fielding a JV team let alone having a competitive Varsity team. The NWC has 8 schools now. Paulding is Div. 5. Grove is Div. 7 by 1 student. The rest are Division 6. That would make it hard to leave a stable conference for a conference that is showing decline for so many schools mentioned earlier in this thread. PG, Cory Rawson, Arcadia, Vanlue.

And 9 years ago comming off a state championship game win, I'd have lost alot of money (and you would have too!)I on a "who will have to canceled a varsity football season first, Vanlue or HN?" bet.

... ."Not going to happen!"

Never say never. :)

No real argument here. It's ironic that the financial penalty was inserted into the BVC bylaws because of Vanlue, yet they're not the ones who would have to pay the piper so to speak.

Tinman...do you know if there is two Detroit Edisons? There is definitely one listed as Detroit Edison Public School Academy (and listed on Calpreps as DEPSA). That team appears to have went 0-8 last year and the 2013 Calpreps Match up has LB 62 Edison 0. I had heard they were close to a deal with Decatur, who was in the playoffs last year. Quite a difference in talent level of those two teams....assuming I have found the correct two.

Pretty sure it's DEPSA, Oct. 5 at L-B. Decatur has someone else (Covert) on their schedule that weekend.

It's Detroit Edison Saturday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. at L-B. No contract yet, but a verbal agreement in place.
I had to slip it in the lastest HN story: http://www.thecourie...2013,Aug,03&c=s

Anyway, if Edison isn't that good, they're simply replacing HN so it could be a similar result but at least it's a game.

I understand it's Detroit Edison, my question was is there two Edisons? A public and private?

As far as I can tell from the MHSAA website, there is a Detroit Edison (DEPSA) and a Flint Northwestern-Edison. Don't know about public vs private, though.

So everybody has ten games.

So basically all the quotes in the paper from AD's and coaches were a whole lotta whining and belly aching for nothing. Except to prove once again that boys sports and football in particular are "special"

No it wasn't whining... Who wants to go to Michigan, Indiana, half way across Ohio for a game or play basically a club team in St. Wendilin... The 10 schools were lucky... period!
Unless you know what goes on in trying to schedule games, you really are clueless to the process. It's not that easy. It always amazes me that there are people who think scheduling is easy... Go be an AD and find out how easy it is.

Yet in what?...35 days? all ten found games. And nobody forced them into making those drives. They could have said thanks but no thanks. No one has to play 10

The quotes wouldn't have been so bad if the double standards weren't so obvious to those not blinded by the friday night lights

I love high school football. I've driven to Toledo, Akron, and Cincy to watch games. I've watched games in the slums of Columbus and BFE locations like Richwood and South Charleston. Seen games in monsoons and freezing rain.

But ask yourself what if this had been volleyball? Every single AD would have said ho-hum, slapped on some more sunscreen and continued their summer vacation. The article in the paper wouldn't have been longer than 5 paragraphs. Not a single game would have been made up.

Or if HN had cancelled a basketball season on Sept 28? The likelyhood of a few making up games goes up but I wouldn't bet the farm they all do.

Volleyball schedules 25 games... so 1 game is 4% of the season. 1 football game is 10% of the season... 2 1/2 times more... Like not scheduling 3 or 4 volleyball games... Why all the hate on football and AD's? Do you realize AD's work on and off ALL summer? Who do you think is trying to get ALL the fall sports ready for their seasons to start? Who's making sure all the paperwork is being turned in? Who's making sure all the coaches have the needed PAV, CPR, Concussion classes? You think they do that while their "slapping on some more suntan lotion"?
Get real and the next time an AD spot in the area opens up, I suggest you go apply...that way you can work on your suntan.

What makes a football players 10% any more important than anyone elses? Each league school was financially protected so the gate arguement is off the table.
