Yes, because nobody goes to college from the area public schools. Nor do any go on to play college football.

If you're dedicated enough in your academics, you will succeed anywhere. If you're good enough to play college football, scouts will find you anywhere.

That's true in anything you do in life. If Student A gets accepted to Harvard and Ohio State, at the end of their 4 years, they will very likely be at the exact same intelligence level if they put in the same amount of work at each place. However, at Harvard, you're surrounding yourself with other like-minded people that will push you and can help open new doors in the future. Does that mean you can't be the CEO of a Fortune 500 company/cure cancer/whatever else. if you go to Ohio State? Absolutely not. However, if they're the same cost, you're telling me you would advise someone to go OSU over Harvard? I don't buy it.

Anyone who suggests LCC (or really any Lima area school for that matter) and LSH are similar in terms of academic atmosphere is fooling themself. LSH students can absolutely get a good education if they put in the work and have a good group of people around them. However, a lot of these LSH students, to no fault of their own, are surrounded by people who don't do anything other than bring them down in life. Going to LCC (or Shawnee/Elida/etc.) is a way to help escape that atmosphere.

In regards to getting to play football at the next level, the school you go to means very little. People used to transfer out of LCC all of the time in order to go to bigger schools to get more looks from recruiters. However, the quality of program you play in can help prepare you better and reach your potential.

The teams remaining in the NWC don't care if LCC goes away quietly or loudly. JUST GO AWAY!!!

I won't disagree with your notion, but let's not pretend like admissions at Harvard and other Ivy schools don't put private schools on a pedestal when it comes to admissions....even more so academy schools over faith based schools just to make a point that they favor private schools mostly on the basis of keeping Harvard's own prestige. Likewise, 3 of the 5 roommates I roomed with at OSU while I was there dropped out or got expelled from OSU within the first 2 quarters....they all went to LCC. Do I think that is representative of LCC as a whole?...no, but the guys I lived with didn't graduate LCC as "morons" and they had numerous academic achievement awards. I know quite a few other LCC grads that did just fine at OSU and abroad, so it's not like I'm just attacking LCC. I think a lot of the private schools tend to sneak people in to higher academic institutions. The 3 that I lived with had awards, but quite frankly, had zero business being in any higher education, let alone OSU. With that being said, I'm not saying these particular students going to Harvard are this way at all. I give them credit for making it in.

what about Lima Senior? Kids do not go on to play college football there?

What I'm saying is at LCC, 99% of students further their education after high school. A better lima senior football team isn't going to stop parents from sending their kids there.

Its amazing no student, with a learning disability goes to LCC . LCC must be a remarkable learning institution or LCC must erase the students with learning disabilities. I must say 99% is amazing.

It's quite possible for students with learning disabilities to further their educations. I've seen it happen. Don't be jealous of LCC. Focus on the kids in your community/school.

Lets not ignore the elephant in the room.

While it's not true for every student at LCC, a lot of them come from wealthier families. Meaning they will have a more structured life at home, won't have to hold a job in school for a car and spending money, and generally have parents that can put more focus towards their academics and activities. Some of the kids coming in on vouchers aren't going to magically have their life at home become more structured, parents aren't going to start caring more.

Some of the Ivy League schools only accept around 5%. Most of them are legacy students or those from prominent families. It doesn't mean they weren't up to par, it means they were up to par with extras.

I wasn't suggesting that going to LCC gives you a better chance to go Ivy League (it may or may not). My post was more to point out that it's really more of a choice of who to surround yourself with and what doors you can open for yourself based on your choice of college (or in this case high school). By no means am I saying LCC is a "Harvard," but LSH is definitely not an "OSU" either. It's sad to hear about your experience with LCC alumni. However, the decisions those people make in college rest solely on them. There's only so much a high school can do for an individual.

Plenty of students go to LCC that have learning disabilities. To suggest otherwise indicates you know very little about the makeup of the student body. 100% of the people in my class went on to some form of higher learning. I know 100% of this year's graduating class is either attending secondary education or is joining the armed forces.

That's very true. Although, with vouchers entering the system, the percentage of kids from "wealthier families" is much lower. However, the majority of kids at the school are going to have parents who put focus on their kid's academics/activities. You're right in suggesting some of the kids coming in on vouchers aren't going to "magically have their life at home become more structure," but they are going to be spending most of each day with kids and people who are more structured and who do care about planning for the future. If you play a sport in high school, you spend, at the very least, 75% of your waking hours with the kids/families you go to school/play sports with.
