Calvert sounds like they are off the board....rumors abound that they have joined the TAAC and meeting has been moved up to Monday.
Always a watchful eyes on those Tiffin Calvert Senecas, Marion Local Flyers, Fort Loramie Redskins , New Albany Eagles.

Better than going to say ... Columbus, Cincinnati or half way across the state to try and fill a week 8'9 game with what there stuck with now. My sources have told me what was suppose to to an easy modest expansion of the league has now turned into a fiascos with the addition of Riverdale and now trying to find a 14 th member. The BVC thought they had problems before just wait and see now. My guess is they better get on the horn and talk to Ada , Carey ,Calvert someone and beg, because what they have now is a mess.

On a side note iM tired of all the HN, vanlue bashing it is what it is they have been respectable a members of the league, as of late vanlue has done real well and up until 4-5 years ago HN was and held its own in everything but baseball. We have the league championships to prove it across the board in every sport ,a lot of other BVC schools can't say that . IMHO they are and should remain in the league until those districts choose to leave.

I'm with you on this. Vanlue has had numbers problems for YEARS and never been in danger of having to cancel a FB game or failing to field a team. HN has had the numbers problem for only the last 3 years or so and never been close to doing either as well....so they should be kicked out of the conference? Nope.

The major focus of the conference expansion was to retain all of the current members. The initial proposal was to add four teams. Three teams would have been schools with a large enough enrollment that they would have JV football. The fourth school (North Baltimore) was added to the list so that the smaller schools in the BVC would vote for the expansion. The larger schools in the BVC are working hard to accommodate the smaller schools.

I had two kids go through LB and I grew to know a lot of great parents from the other BVC schools. I have really looked forward to chatting with them at basketball, football and baseball games throughout the year(s) so I do feel for the smaller schools as far as getting the numbers to play on Friday nights. And that definitely includes HN and the Lue. I also coached AYBT basketball and tournament baseball teams and had many other BVC kids join us for those competitive events. So my point is....I am a BVC fan, not just an LB fan. But.....With that said, I think the argument that some folks make on here is not just fielding a team on Friday nights, but also being able to field pee wee football as well as the Saturday morning JV commitments. That is definitely part of the conference process, not just putting 11 kids out there on Friday night to get beat 70-0 (just my opinion, I don't mean to offend any one).

Upper Scioto Valley has sent 2 letters to the BVC asking for entry into the league, per the Kenton Times.

I think USV would be a good addition for the BVC. Granted their football was down for sometime, but they are getting kids out again and the future looks a little brighter. Their Bball squad, historically, has been decent with some very good teams every few years. With the addition of the former 'Lue coach, a natural rivalry already exists ....geographically not too bad.....sounds like it would be a positive addition to me

Upper has to be helped by the fact that the BVC would (I assume) like to add another school to give them an even number & so far have had a hard time rounding up that 14th member.

Hmm- would that qualify as hitting the 'Easy' button if you're the AD?

I see several BVC schools that would nix the idea of bringing in USV. The expansion was to bring in larger schools to add stability to the league. USVs history does not bode well. Why do you think they were left out of the conversations in the first place?

Right, but do they have any other option?

The BVC has several options that do not include adding another school that has no JV football program.

One option: continue to seek a school bordering the current members of the conference. Ideally this school would have sufficient enrollment to field varsity and JV football and a full range of junior high and girls teams.

Another option: pursue creative scheduling for a 13 team football conference. Have some combination of the non-JV football schools not play against the strongest conference teams' varsity. An example: the varsity teams at HN, NB, and Vanlue would play against the JV teams of LB, McComb and Leipsic. Those weeks, the varsity teams from LB, McComb, and Leipsic play against Arcadia, CR, and PG. Set up properly, everyone would have a league game in weeks 3 thru 10. First 2 weeks would be non-league games.
