The game was UGLY. Beining had one heck of a game!! If it wasn't for her this game would have been even worse. Only Siefker can blame herself for fouling out. Her 5th foul was a reach from behind if I remember correctly. That's one that you simply have to let go. Kaufman could have possibly been a game changer but what Ottoville needed was Vorst or Turnwald to step up. A senior guard to take charge, calm the girls down, and get the job done. Loramie did their homework. They flustered our guards and doubled down on the post. Siefker couldn't do anything because she spazzed. Get her to miss her first couple shots and she doesn't come back from that. Props to the team for making it down. Sorry it couldn't have ended better. Congrats to Rachel Beining for an amazing game and congrats to all the seniors for finally making the state tournament.

I'm not from Shelby County, but it's essentially the same thing we feed the kids in Mercer County. Well, it's a combo of the food, hard work, and a pretty stout gene pool.

Again, Good Luck to the Redskins, and the Rockets!!

And Kaizen is the child of all this. Listen to yourself crying about the refs. caused this, caused that. You have to go down there enough to know that refs down there aren't the same putnam county refs you're accustomed to seeing.

Get over it. The initial shock i can understand, 24 hours later and STILL crying about the refs... you need to get out. Have a beer. Does this hurt more because you know it's going to be another couple of years to put something like this back together? I told you those seniors are really going to feel pressure in a tight game down the stretch knowing it's their last shot at it. Seifker fouling out showed that - trying to do too much.

It's something completely different when you go to C-bus. Teams know how to win and overcome , and others fold (not relating to the oville game, just in general).

It hurts, but lets get off the refs. Other have seen it many many times.. Move on with life.

Good assessment. The toughest thing about high school and college sports is it's one and done come tournament time. Give Loramie all the props for winning, but even they would have to say that Ottoville had a bad day, Siefker with 9 points and the team with 32 turnovers?? The Ottoville team had a target on their back all season long, and to get that close makes it so much tougher, but what a resume they've built.

Siefker was getting double and triple teamed. She was the only reason they were in the game. She freed up beining and as you could tell, they couldn't do a thing once Abby fouled out.

These refs were absolutely terrible and should never ref a state tournament again. The long haired female ref should be relieved of her duties. It is time to use another method to picking which crews work the tournaments.

Ottoville also got out coached in this game. Dave never really stood up for his players when they were getting fouled constantly. He stayed very calm and sat for most of the game.

Sterio.......

Please read post no. 134.....to me, that is why Ottoville was handled by Loramie.......a good coach is never passive during any game, much less the state tournament.......call the officials out..be respectful....hell, even a technical can sometimes turn things around a little bit.....if the officials are as bad as people say, what does it hurt to get in their face........officiating at the state level has been like this for years.....it isn't going to change anytime soon!!!!

Also sterio....noticed the time of your post.......you party animal!!!!

I have seen about 7 games this year and in my opinion it's the same story for ottoville. They aren't very Fundimental. They rely on getting steals to win the game. The one thing they forgot is that down at state teams are just as good if not better than them and they need to learn that taking care of the ball wins games. Coach left 1or 2 timeouts at the end of the game. After siefker fouled out it was evident beining was spent, and rightfully so she played great. Why not get a TO to give her a little break. Coach looked lost once siefker fouled out.
Kaufman plays and they win by at least 5. She handles the ball great and plays great defense. How many turnovers again,32? Exactly some of those girls out therw struggled with the pressure and not faulting them but with her it takes pressure off of a lot of the guards

So was it the refs that lost the game, or the 32 turnovers??? C'mon folks, your team nearly went undefeated through the season. You had a bad night and that's it. To blame the officials or make an excuse for an injured player just cheapens the accomplishments of the season for this team. Loramie was better on Friday, and that's the only day they had to be better.

I agree with Flounder.....wow, can't believe that I would ever say that...lol.....
Refs did not lose the game for the Big Green. No breaks down the stretch but clearly got out coached again in a big game. Coach K is all alone on the bench. No help when things start going the wrong way.
Yes, Kaufman would have helped big time. Like I said before, great job getting to state even with losing your starting point guard. Almost unheard of when a small school loses most athletic player and still makes it to the big dance.

Congrats to the seniors ! No one can surpass their record the last 4 years!

Maybe your definition of fundementals is different than mine, but they are one of the best fundemental teams that I know of. Good outside and inside game, they don't foul as much defensively, they play good defense, and take smart shots. Bout the only thing I have seen they do wrong is sometimes they will make a bad decision (which tell me what team does not)? Bottom line is they lost composure. I knew in the first 2-3 mintues of the game they were in trouble because they all seemed nervous. They didn't play their best at all. They didn't utilize the inside out game like they usually do. Fort Loramie couldn't stop their inside game and more importantly they didn't even hit a single 3 pointer. This team in my mind is still the best in the state and sometimes the best team does not always win. I used to believe it did but not anymore. They just didn't play good.

My overall feelings toward this game will not change. I still feel the officials were pretty bad for a state tournament game. Were they the main reason why Ottoville lost this game? No of course not. But it played a part in it. People constantly preach about making adjustments in this case when the officiating is bad. Well explain to me how you make adjustments through this if the officials won't let you? How do you make adjustments when the officials call a 2nd foul on your starter in the first quarter? How do you make adjustments when they call tight falls on one end but loose on the other? Or how about when a player gets called for a offensive foul when they set a screen and the opposing player flops? My point it's not so easy to make adjustments in this case.

Now that I said that, I wll put that to rest and move on to something else. Over the years whether it is boys or girls, I have seen Ottoville have some really tall, athletic players. Maybe it is just me, but I just haven't seen our programs get the best out of these taller players. If you follow Ottoville basketball you know what players I am referring to. Siefker was good but felt she could have been better, same with Beining. Fort Loramie had no answer for them inside. Are the programs at all focusing on an inside game, are they trying to get the best out of the "tall" players that Ottoville has had which let me say they have had some really good ones? I don't know for sure. I felt as if they did not use the inside game enough. Too many times do I see Siefker out around the perimeter rather than inside. Too many times do I see her bring the ball down to her knees rather than keep the ball up and away from the defender. I felt she is a very good player but could have been better. What I seen Friday other than the bad officiating, was the guards dribbling into double teams, picking their dribble up when shouldn't, and not shooting the ball when open. Other than that, they played good defensively but I felt they lost composure throughout the game. I don't think this team was as aggressive in these last four years which cost them as well. The guards I thought had a better year this year than the last four years, but again on Friday they seemed lost and nervous. Too many times did they dribble into double teams and pick up their dribbles. They just didn't play their best, simple as that.

I still feel they were the best team in the state this year and last year (sorry Post). But like we said over and over in order to win it all, you need luck, determiniation, compsure, and well of course "getting the calls" lol. Not to take away the teams that won it all, they did what they had to do to win. And congrats to them.
