Leipsic 66 Grove 59.........very hard fought battle between to very good teams. Devin Mangas was the difference tonight with 34 points and was clutch down the stretch when Grove closed a 10 point Viking lead to 1 point. Leipsic and Edgerton will square off Tues. night at BG. I like the Vikings chances to move on to the regional finals.

Someone explain to me why a ref, that lives in Ottawa is doing a District final game between 2 Putnam County schools. Hats off to Leipsic, you won, but the Ottawa "ref" seemed to be pretty one-sided all night..IMO..But I am taking nothing away from Leipsic..Mangas kid is good, as obviously the rest of team is....Leipsic might as well bring back the state championship to Putnam County..

Why not, it's not like a guy from Grove or Leipsic was officiating? I was at the game as a neutral spectator and thought that the officiating was solid on both ends of the floor and had no effect on the outcome of the game. I barely noticed any of the 3 fellas out there. 2 good teams, 1 had to win and one had to lose. Grove has nothing to hang their heads about and the bulldogs will be good next year and for years to come because they have a good coach and talent coming up through the system.

When your a neutral spectator, you don't watch the game as close, and pay attention to the little things that don't get called both ways...just sayin

As a neutral spectator I do not see the game through Red and gray or Purple and gold blinders and can give an objective analysis of the game, and the officiating did not play a role in the outcome of the game. In fact I would believe a neutral fan would be more inclined to see the big picture. The "little things that don't get called both ways" normally aren't called once teams get to the district final level of play.

Now tomorrow night when OG is playing I will admit I may not be the best person to judge officials if things don't go our way because I will be emotionally involved.

Not saying the "Ottawa" official decided the outcome, but you have to admit he made some questionable calls. the over and back no call..., there was a travel, that he called foul on Grove...., Vorhees got his arm about hacked off, and he called a travel ....just some examples...Lepsic won, I am taking nothing away from them...It just looked like he didn't want Grove to win , made questionable calls at crucial points in game when Grove was getting a little momentum..imo

Badlands,

Fair enough, some calls go your way, some do not. I can see you have your mind made up that more went against Grove.

The ONE OFFICIAL gave Grove several chances to cut the lead or build on the lead they had in the 1st half. But the Dogs couldn't capitalize. I think the game was called really good and the Better team did win. Mangas was the difference. What body control and court awareness. I see why he was POY in the PCL.

I was talking mostly in terms of sibling rivalry. Scott is a very competitive person and I think the thought of his brothers playing in the regionals and one at state has got to be fueling his desire to coach a team in the regionals and possibly state. As far as the game goes if Grove does control the tempo of the game and is able to stop Mangas on dribble drive penetration they will win. If not the Vikings move on. That aspect and the depth of Leipsic could also play a factor. However the fact of the matter is that Devin Mangas is the best basketball player in the county and also along with that the best athlete in the county. Stop him Grove wins. Let him run rampant, its going to be a long night for the Dogs. I think the Vikings win. I think they have what it takes to take it to the regionals.
I think I called that one. Mangas was fantastic last night. His quickness, penetration, outside shooting, and at crunch time foul shooting was the difference. It will be interesting Tuesday night with Edgerton whether the Vikings can control the tempo against a team that likes to keep the game in the thirties or fourties at most. Should be a great regional.

This may be the dumbest thing I have ever read in a post...At first i thought it was said tongue in cheek. After reading your other posts, I am reminded of what Mom used to tell me..."Always wear clean underwear and never argue with fools."

Since I have no idea who the "Ottawa" ref was but was at the game, I thought it was officiated well. It would have been a tough game to call. First time I've seen the Mangas kid play. Nice player and he WAS the difference, not some official.

I never said the official was the difference in the game. Why do some of you always have to blow this up? What I said was.....I though the official made some crucial calls at crucial points in the Game when Grove had a little run going that favored Leipsic. That is IT....I also said Mangas was the difference. Leipsic won and good luck bring the big trophy home. (some of you forgot that I said that) I also asked why is a official who lives Ottawa doing a all Putnam County District game.

First its the Freshman basketball scandal not getting invited to the PCL tournament.

Now the officiating scandal that rocks the varsity ranks!

Who is to blame? I would say LCC...just a hunch though!

Grove is the most guilty team when it comes to travelling. Vorhees travels every time he pulls up from 12 feet and beyond. There were no calls from both ends. As a neutral spectator...
