I do not think that we will ever see the shot clock in high school ball bc of the cost and the economy on the decline.

Holgate lost last night at Paulding 24-29 I listed to that game and it sounded like they could not hit the broad side of a barn, and I think their style hurt them because they could not get the quick points they needed.

So Holgate actually shot the ball? How could you expect to make baskets when they haven't taken any shots all year? It doesn't take many shots for a normal team to score 6 points.

I see a number of high school football fields that are now using on field play clocks. That would be a much larger expense than basketball clocks and it's not even required at the high school level.

I agree. And I also think there is some wasted size and talent on that bench. They have 2 kids that are roughly 6'4" and they just sit! One of the big problems they have had all year is scoring and when they have an off night in shooting the ball, they have no big man on the inside to give them a second option.. I've been to 1 or 2 holgate games this year and I have also watche the JV games and neither of the 6'4" kids are bad! The one is a junior and the other is a sophmore I believe. The junior is very physical in the post, a little un coordinated but physical. The sophomore can shoot that mid range jumper really well, can dribble drive very well and can back you in the post! Now i have no connections to the coaching staff but I think their answer to the missing inside game they so desperately needed is in that sophomore and junior.

lmao.......no FJ does not play that way.....but, maybe they should as they have a hard time beating anybody.....they bring it down..chuck up a shot that you can get anytime you want, simply because it is a terrible shot...they had like 6 wins this season and maybe a couple last year and are currently trying to find a ride to watch other teams advance down the tourney trail!!!!!

I think they were pretty young though!

Holgate........41

DSJ................65
Old Fort.........61

DSJ..............68
Ottoville.......60

DSJ probably averaged in the mid 60's that season on offense....................does that and those scores look like a team that stalls and holds the ball!!!!!!!

My cousin a freshman at holgate said The sophomore Buchholz kid is 6'5 and plays AAU n year round ball. Wayne told him after the lost that he doesn't care how good he is he won't play for him unless he changes his attitude.... The only attitude I've seen from this kid is that he wants to be a scorer but gets yelled at every time by JV coach he tried to make a play. Obviously missing the talent there since Wayne lacked a big guy all year and someone that could produce points.

So he was getting in trouble for playing basketball? He wasn't playing holgate stall ball and got in trouble? I think the famed Paul Wayne coaching staff is slipping a little.

That's what others are starting to think south of st rt 281 I hear. N I've seen the kid play with some of the best sophomores in the state in Columbus at the All Ohio Showcase back in football season. Handled himself well against the Bramlage kid from OG n dominated the Fisher kid from Archbold on block. I was mostly impressed with his play on Esa Amehd from Shaker Heights down low beat him every time but couldn't handle Esa off the dribble.

Those are some big northwest Ohio names aside from Ahmed, How did you come to see this showcase in Columbus? That's is some serious talent to be sitting on a holgate bench.

I know attendance was really down this year for home games. I think it is getting harder for the community to watch and stay interested.

.
I think that is because well the lack of scoring holgate ball is really based in hard nosed defense, holding the opponent to a low score because holgate hasn't had the offensive fire power lately. But the past couple years especially this year they have lacked a consistent scorer. And we'll a scorer In general. There were countless times at the games I went to that the team besides a 1 or 2 players would be afraid to shoot the ball. And when they have a kid that is willing to try and score he sits the bench? There is your low attendance problem right there, the lack of points being put up.
