Does anyone have the video of the incident? It is hard to judge without being able to see it.

Bigdogg - Van Wert fan if I remember correctly. Do me a favor and see if you can get a copy of the Van Wert vs DSJ 8th grade boys basketball game from last month at your gym. I want you to look for the play where your best player was sitting on the chest of a much smaller DSJ player and proceeds to punch him in the face twice with his head bouncing off the floor. I then want you to watch how the refs did not stop the game, issue no foul, let play continue as if nothing happened. The player was not taken out of the game by your coach and no mention of any type of suspension was ever made known. You always have your gun loaded to slam DSJ but why don't you clean up your own house before throwing your abuse. I did not attend the Lincolnview game but had a front seat to the above incident. It is sad how far the game has sunk and how little control the refs keep.

Probably not without consent from the participants. Good luck with that.

Kinda what I was thinking. Now, if WOSN had the games up on their site (not sure if they do), then I could see it being completely legal.

Sorry, I have not lived in Van Wert for over 30 years. Moved away and never looked back. If what you say is true, than no excuse and the boy should be disciplined for it. I am sure it was taken care of.

There is video from the games going around and it is bad. I have seen two of the incidents, they were e-mailed to me. The young lady has anger issues and should have been asked to turn her uniform in. The article in the paper I found ironic. It's the same girl. It must be very embarrassing for everyone involved. If the school would have handled it like they should of in the first place, this discussion would have been over a long time ago.

Punishments were handed out, we should all just drop the subject. Obviously she is a smart girl and has done many good things. Because of one event we should should just ignore everything else? The school did more than they were supposed to...she didn't get a double technical foul, so she didn't have to sit out two games.

This sort of thing happens more than you think, its just because of the retaliation of the Lancer girl that this is getting a bunch of attention.

Personally, I have witnessed much worse during the heat of battle in basketball games.....she received a 2 game suspension...I mean what more do you want.....I am not agitated or annoyed, I just cannot figure out what you 2 expect as far as punishment....., and all of a sudden it is 4 games where this girl assaulted someone....you know, I could go out and review tape from many girls games, and would probably find more incidents than that....

Flounder,

I have been around boys and girls basketball in this area for 25 years and I had the opportunity to view both films. My only comment is WOW! I have never seen anything this bad done on a basketball court.

Sorry,

LJ

I have witnessed alot of games this year and I really do believe that I have seen more physical contact then in previous years. Some of these refs need to hang up their stripes and whistles.. It really is getting out of control, until someone gets physically inpaired it will continue. I just hope I am not there to witness it.

You are correct.....and the 2 officials that had the L'view/DSJ game are noted for not blowing their whistle which only compounds the problem!!!!

Tell us how any official could have stopped any of these incidents from happening?

I heard that this incident was an extension of some friction these girls had on the soccer field. Getting rid of the sport that started the friction would be a good start. :fish2:

Shame on you taking one of your petty little biases and sneaking it into an important topic. :sarcasm:

LJ, It was my pleasure! Although I have also heard since that this incident didn't start on the soccer field. It doesn't change my opinion on the soccer pastime. :pokey:

They can start with getting rid of the rough play that's going on. Have you seen a loose ball on the floor lately. People come flying in from every direction and piling on top. The post players are constantly beating on each other. The refs are letting it get way out of hand.

Girl should be off the team. No other way to do it. Pretty sad for a girl to punch 2 opposing players and still play. If the school dsj wants to say its ok to punch people and still play, I hope they do not complain if someone punches dsj players twice. Pretty sure you can find the videos of punching on YouTube. This is a bad situation that has not ended yet.
