I hope Scott succeeds. I never thought he should have left Grove in the first place. I just hope that the past trends of what happens to a programs doesn't happen for Scott's sake. And this is no knock on Jerry either. This is a good hire for LCC. I have talked to some people in other towns that hoped to lure Scott for their program when their current coach either quits or retires. LCC jumped the gun and protected themselves. This was smart of Ron Williams to go along with Jerry on this move.

Man, I feel for you LCC people....you are taking way more crap than you deserve....and when you reply, you cannot win because most LCC haters have their minds made up and nothing....and I mean nothing and no one is going to change that.....

One great example.....ok, most believe that LCC's sports have improved because of the student athletes coming over from Senior....but hell no, the football program hasn't improved because of Cooper...lmao...here is where it gets good....ol Coop..in the eyes of the haters wants to get of of Dodge....simply because the talent isn't there......so, is the talent drying up..or has LCC decided not to take those students from Senior.........lmao....most of those statements being made are so contradictory that it is hard not to laugh!!!!

Then your point couldn't be more wrong. First off Cooper is a good coach not great but good. Just look at LCC's improvement his first year. That was a result of good coaching. What Cooper is Great at is finding a situation where he can be successful and getting out of dodge when the talent is about to drop off. See Bath and Columbus Grove. To say LCC doesn't have any more talent now than before he got there is the most ridiculous statement ever. Yes, LCC has traditionally had good athletes past and present. Now take the traditional LCC athlete and add in the athlete getting out of the Lima City School mess. You now have the most talent ever walking the halls of LCC. So don't give me that it is all coaching B.S. It's good coaching and being in a good situation of having immense talent wanting to get out of the public schools. Now if Coop was a great coach he would be able to take that talent and do something in the playoffs.

Everyone has their own opinion I guess. I think many would argue that the teams in Coops first few years and the team that went to state were at least as good as the teams the last two years. I suppose the "potential for talent" seems greater now, though I don't see it playing out on the field if that is true. Anyways, based on the lower grade levels, the current talent will be around awhile, so Coop certainly won't be leaving in order to go to "greener pastures" or because the well has run dry. (Though he could still leave for other reasons)

First step in COOP bailing from LCC, things go bad and he runs away!!!

Caldwell you seem really bitter and are expressing alot of hate. Is it LCC you hate or Coach Coop. I would be interested in hearing which. If you are a real truthful poster you will also identify your team/school so others can understand your bitterness.

Nice post. It would be great if those you are refering to were smart enough to understand what you are saying. But I would not bet the paycheck on that one

Not sure why this even concerns anyone from Columbus Grove.....It's not like he was still coaching there. Other than the fact that maybe they should be paying their head football coach more money to keep him there.

Badlands,
I think I know how most high school kids think........the ones who are seniors were kicked in the stomach a year ago when Palte resigned
out of the blue......now a year and a half later he signs on to coach at CG's #1 arch-nemesis......(don't even tell me it's PG :nerd: )

he is going to continue to teach classes at Grove for the foreseeable future.........every day these same kids will either be in classes that he teaches
or see him in the hallways of the new school..........a lot like when that same 16 yr. has his first girlfriend break up with him
and you don't think there will be any hard feelings?..........really?
the CG administration, parents, taxpayers, who support their school have just seen someone jilt them like a former lover and you honestly don't think
that there will be any blowback?...........c'mon, I know Grove people..........when Cooper left they hung him in effigy. :furious:

Coach Palte has good relations with the football players, trust me. Grove was not jilted by Palte, Grove was jilted by the adminstation, like Turnwald was, just calling it like it is. When he went 7-3 some Grove fans didnt think that was good enough for Grove football (really) I thinking a lot of schools would love 7-3 seasons., so yes there was a uproar. I should say a certain individual on the adminstation is no longer employed by Grove. So I am not pointing fingers at the current members.

I would look for another former Columbus Grove assistant to be moving out of the building to coach somewhere else fairly soon. He will either be a head coach or an assistant with a newly hired former Columbus Grove coach. Just my (un)educated guess!

If he is a former assistant, that means he is no longer a coach at Grove. So how can he move out of a building ,he is no longer a coach at ?

Coached this past season at Grove but will not coach next year at Grove. Is teaching currently in your building hope this provides some clarity for you.
