SHE may have been the WORST announcer at a high school game I have ever heard. She could not have shown Grove more disrespect as she did . Leipsic scores. she screams( LOUD) the full name. Grove scores you hear a little faint noise just the last name only.........That was the most disrespect I seen other than the LCC announcer years ago at the Grove-LCC football game...Nice class woman

Your right she is bad. She tries very hard to be exciting, but just isn't good. In fact she mispronounces Leipsic names from time to time as well. I'm not sure she is doing anything different than most places though. I wouldn't feel disrespected by it but i can see how someone would take it that way. Mccomb comes to mind as disrespectful as well.

I disagree, Groves announcer says the full name for each team, and stays at the same tone for both teams, no matter a three or not.

Typical Grove attitude,I work with a few Bulldogs and all I've heard since the game Saturday night is how this was Grove's poorest showing all year and yes believe it or not some are questioning the coaching already. My point is from the Grove people I work with to Badlands starting a thread about the announcer at the game it seems some will go to great lengths to avoid giving the Vikes any respect.

The Elida guy is also overly biased. When he's introducing the home team I'm worried he's gonna have a hemorrhage or pitch a fit.

When the game is tight or Elida is on a run he does get a little too excited.

Do these ppl get paid, at all ( or a nominal amount) ? I mean, it's not like they're getting paid a professional fee, correct?

Is it Ok for the NBA announcers to do this? It is very common across the country it is something that is just done and I feel is no big deal just part of being a home game.

I guess I don't understand ppl expecting more from 'volunteers' ( essentially), than you do local to nationwide 'professional' announcers?

I think most of us would just prefer they be more balanced. Even if they are bad.

The school is probably just glad somebody is doing it. I don't see anything wrong with favoring the home team in announcements. Just keep good sportsmanship. Never should a player feel embarrassed.

OHSAA frowns on "exciting" announcers... They put out publication on the "do's and don'ts" on announcing. Some schools obviously don't adhere to it. Game should be about what happens on the court or field, not how the game was called by the announcer. You want that atmosphere, go to a professional game.

I'm sure there was no disrespect intended. Anyway who really cares. Leipsic won. Grove lost. Get over it

You must not go to many boys varsity basketball games. Most announcers show favoritism to their own team. Some do it on purpose, some just get caught up in the game. Also this was a special day for the Vikings with the fundraiser, so they did some special things that night.

The fundraiser was a awesome idea, I didnt even mind when they turned off the lights for Leipsics intro, Leipsic outplayed Grove, Leip
sic deserved to win....WHAT Im saying is the announcer was BAD....Give the visiting team respect by atleast saying the first and last name when they score, and people can actually hear the name, and let people leave the game without a hearing loss when Leipsic scores.

So TiGGer....take your assupmtion to another Leipsic fan.

This is comical, I mean I understand if someone is mispronouncing names (especially their own team) or not saying anything (or softly) for the away team but Home announcers are allowed to be more exciting for the HOME fans and the HOME players its a HOME game and then next year when you go on the road to their place their announcer can do what they wish, this probably comes from someone who thinks all players should play equal time too, lol

Nothing worse than a "frustrated" wanna be who on top of acting like they are auditioning for an NBA gig, BUTCHER kids' names.......the worst. AD should be standing at the exit door when the game is over with a stack of dollar bills handing everyone a dollar on their way out for the torture........if it's excessively bad, make it a stack of fives!!!!!

Why is pointing out a bad PA announcer typical Grove attitude? The PA announcer was terrible. I have no problem showing enthusiasm for the home team. But incoherently screaming into a microphone after a made basket is terrible and takes away from the game. As for the game. Grove did have a poor showing. But was that poor showing a result of a good Leipsic team making Grove look bad at times or was it just a bad night. Who knows. I will just congratulate Leipsic on winning the PCL. Hopefully Grove will get another chance to play Leipsic to see if the result can change.

Also any fan questioning the Grove coaching that night is an idiot. Grove was able to cut the lead down from 12 points to 5 with 4 min to go because of a coaching move. Grove switched from man to a zone when they made their run. If the players could have made a free throw that night who knows if the outcome is different. I'm sure Grove practice’s shooting free throws. It's up to the players to execute. But they are high school kids and some nights things like that happen.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with the hope PA announcer favoring the home team. It is their HOME game. Please tune into any college or pro basketball game and you'll see the same thing.

Also remember these people are more than likely VOLUNTEERS, as is the scoreboard operator, time keeper, and other personnel.

If you have a problem with it (as I say to people who complain about officials), please sign up to help out at your own school. There seem to be so many "experts" in the stands at these high school games???
