Well, I was almost right. I predicted a Marion Local 4th quarter breakdown. Unfortunately just wasn't enough. To be honest, i don't understand how so many points were put on the board. It was almost like both defenses were playing so bad, but yet coming away with so many turnovers which resulted in a high scoring game even though the offenses were playing bad. Bertke didn't impress me at all. 4 or 5 INTs, another close one with 30 secs left that could have been a pick 6. The "MAC" chant wasn't quite as loud this time around. BVC will be a little down next year, but 2014 will be a good year, for McComb anyway. Good luck to ML, great team but I suggest they fix their DBs and their tendency to breakdown late game.

I was expecting to see more complaining about the officiating especially in overtime. There were many calls that did not go McCombs way.
You also can not expect defensive backs to cover man to man an entire game and not be able to cover at the end. Most of those players played the entire game on both sides of the ball.

As a Marion fan, I was impressed with McComb's speed and sure tackling. They were definitely good enough and deserving to win the game, but I will take the win. Our young kids may not play well, but they do play hard.

No doubt. I'm sure they opened a lot of eyes in MAC country and Ohio for that matter.

and im sure mccomb had there eyes open what the mac teams go through each week. now imagine they have to prepare for coldwater next week, then minster the following week, the st henry, then anna, then versailes, then throw in a non league game like lcc, or kenton its brutal. i have the most respect for mcomb but i even have even more respect for mac teams taken a beating each and every week, then to go through a tough playoff run, not to mention that alot of these kids have played and extra 15 weeks or so throughout there high school. good luck in the future mccomb and the rest of the bvc you were fun to watch

Was very impressed with McComb and their quickness , very similar to Coldwater . Also very impressed with your coach
who seemed to wait to see what player[s] we sent in for a particular play and then he would substitute on defense
accordingly. Was one of those games where hard to see either team lose. They were definitely spent because at the
end of the game most of our guys were too tired to even hoop and hollar.
Quarterback had a very quick read and release as first time all year we didn't get to the quarterback.
And yes vanillabun Bertke did have a bad game, but what you saw tonite is not what we normally see every Friday.
Also very nice to see what a clean played game and players from both sides helped each other up after a play.

I realize he probably has played better in other games, but it is confusing considering McComb's defensive backfield has been the sketchy spot in our team all year. In regards to the ML DBs, it wasn't like they were getting burnt because they were tired and couldn't keep up, they were getting burnt because the McComb receivers studdered and the ML players couldn't see the QB and thought the ball was in the air so the McComb guy blew by them. And also about the officiating, can't complain. Seeing some of the calls the NFL refs made on Thanksgiving, I'm thankful for the refs we are given, they do their best. I mean, last year, McComb played Leipsic in OT and the refs didn't even let us switch sides after each OT. I felt like overall, pretty well officiated game, and tbh I didn't think ML or McComb played their best football, so many turnovers.

Alge is a great coach.......Nice run McComb! You did the BVC proud.

Good luck to ML next week from Liberty-Benton. You have a classy team and a great fan base.

Yes Marion Local, you guys have a great fan base, kids, and a tremendous coach. From an LB grad, you guys were definitely the classiest team that we ever met in the playoffs. I have the upmost respect for your program, both on and off the field.

This was just a very hard nosed tough game by two really good teams. Offensively, it was pretty sloppy overall with all the turnovers. Both defenses played very well. The Flyers had a couple of chances in the first half to put the game away and didn't do it. Bertke looked very tentative in the 2nd half, made some very questionable throws, including a near pick 6 at the end of regulation. The flea flicker play in the first OT was surprising, good if you get it, but didn't think ML needed to go into their bag of tricks.

Eh, it's just another passing play. If you're no going to go into your bag of tricks in overtime, when do you? The pass was just a little high - if it's on target the game is over or at worst it's an incompletion, because the defender was close by.
