Wow, what a game. How much heat does the PH coaching staff take for calling a pass play inside the 3 yard line, up 11, early in the 4th? Even if you don't score there (downs or missed FG) you're still up 2 scores with less than a quarter to play. PH has had some heartbreakers this year.
Dumb...just SMH

Run the ball, run the ball, run the ball and then run the ball some more. Did I mention run the ball, then run the ball some more? Boy oh boy, even after the first pick six run the ball. PH coaching staff you were dominating both sides of the line of scrimmage.

Congrats Eagles and good luck next week.

I think LB ended up with -13 yards rushing (due to all the sacks).

PH had 219 yards rushing,

LB had -6 rushing yards. 161 passing yards. 1 turnover

I'm still just shocked. There isnt a soul that can say the best team won. But congrats to LB. hope you can take out Coldwater.

You are absolutely correct. I feel really bad for the PH kids. Insleman blew it. He let his arrogance cost his TEAM a state birth. Watching him on the sidelines, you could tell by his body language that he was trying to run up the score. Because of that, his boys go home with a loss....either he was trying to run it up to avenge the 2008 loss, or he's just plain dumb. Speechless

Odd as it sounds I said 24-21 in my prediction before the game.....was close.

What an ending. 2 picks in 20 seconds to turn that game around. Heart breaking for PH

The score could "easily" been PH 35-10. LB was up 10-7 at half, but the tide was definitely turning. How they win 22-21 is unbelievable. PH dominated the second, third and first 4 minutes of the 4th qtr. I mean DOMINATED!!!!!!!!

You looked at the clock with about 8 minutes left and LB was only down 21-10, but PH had the ball on the LB 4 ready to cram it in. Then it happened...................

Oberhaus, I am stunned....................The better team went home a loser...due to coaching. I truly feel for the PH kids.

Good luck LB, Love those Eagles!. Go BVC!!

I still can't believe he made that call to throw on that play that went for 100.

I didn't see the game but can't help but feel that you've got some prior issues with the coach. Running up the score? OF COURSE he was trying to run up the score - IN ORDER TO WIN! Just last night in D6 one team came back from a 14-point fourth quarter deficit and another almost came back from a 21-point fourth quarter deficit.

If he thought passing the ball was the best way to score at that point, then why not pass?

So let me get this straight - you thought he was trying to run up the score, right? So let me ask you this: if you're up by only 11 points, wouldn't you WANT your coach to try to run up the score?

No, I don't think he was running the score up. I think the coaching staff made a horrible choice in passing the ball when they were avg'ing an ungodly yards per carry running the ball. LB COULD NOT stop the run. The only prayer for LB was for PH to pass the ball, hopefully to a quick LB DB. That is what happened. My point was, you would have known that if you were at the game. But no, I don't think he was trying to embarrass LB.

He wasn't trying to run up the score. He was trying to score. Period. But run the ball. PH was 4 yards out and had 2 downs left. RUN THE BALL. lock runs between third and 4th IF you don't get in. RUN THE BALL

I have no issues with the coach. Obviously you are going to go for the score. Clearly, when you are getting 5+ yards a carry, running it would be the right call.

I apologize for saying "running it up." That was a bad phrase to use. I still stand by my point that he lost the game for them.

Fair enough. I guess I just have a hard time with the 'blame the coach' mentality. Someone said earlier that the best team didn't win. If that's the case, how did PH get to be the 'best team'? Didn't the coach have something to do with that?

Paperboy, I'm not trying to get you going either. I just can't believe what I saw tonight. DOMINATION for three plus quarters turned around in 2 quick plays. Our QB couldn't get the ball into the hands of our play makers (like C. Cook) due to PH's monster defense, but as it turned out "your" QB did. If you run the ball, that never happens. Gabe Jones had 175 yards rushing, but it all went for nothing due to 2 picks on 2 illadvised passes. Again, I feel for him and the whole PH gang. A very good team was beaten by a team that was not near as good as they were.. on this given night.

Congrats to PH on a great season, hope to see you again next year.

I just think in that situation, IF you call a pass play, you have to have faith the QB will:
- throw the ball only if the receiver is open
-if the corner is anywhere near the play, you eat the ball or throw it away
-if you are the receiver, you tackle the cornerback, not letting him intercept the ball

Understand that these are high school kids, but many times we wonder why coaches are "control" freaks and want to dictate every facet of the game. Well, here is the reason. You minimally run the ball in the line 4 times at first and goal, it really doesn't matter if you score or not in this situation. You're up 2 scores and your defense has dominated play. Bitter, bitter pill to swallow for the Patriot faithful.
